Go through ebay if you're hesitant. I mean ebay will frick you with fees but at least you'll be covered.
Or.
Just give him your checking account number and your banks wire transfer number. That way the 7k will be all yours.

Can you scam someone on PayPal?
I'm a big seller on my own website, eBay and Amazon. I take Paypal on 95% of my sales. I sell well over $250k a year online. I've had many fools over the years attempt to scam me however you can always tell the good from the bad. The Paypal "Movers" scam has been around for years. Just Google "Paypal Movers Scam" and see the huge amount of hits that follow. Do not reply to this guy. If you do reply, tell him to show up with cash in hand. Personally, I'd immediately shut down any further conversation with him. This is absolutely without a doubt an attempt to do two things....take your goods and your money.

There must be delivery confirmation or PayPal will side with the buyer every time. If he is willing to have the bike shipped to the confirmed and verified address on the account you are fine.
This. No delivery confirmation, buyer can always make a claim of no delivery and you will always lose.
It's the reason you don't see people selling big money digitally transferred stuff on ebay anymore, like accounts for video games.

I was selling a truck in the spring and most of the pay pal wanted to buy sight unseen and their shipper was in the area. None of them would talk "live" only emails.
I ended up selling local to a guy thru Facebook. He brought cash - good guy.

That and ebay doesn't allow sales of digital goods anymore.

Its a scam. Don't do it. I had the same thing happen to me trying to sell some furniture on Craigslist. You can google it.

Had a similar scam that a guy tried on my son. Wanted the paypal info so the sale could be smooth. When I started asking questions, the guy ghosted on us.
Tell him you will take a certified check from a bank.

Ppl pay me in through paypal all the time
Zero issues ever
This thread reads like a bunch of boomers who are scared of the internet
But most of those guys are likely 100% spot on about charge backs. It happens all the time, and there's nothing the seller can do to stop it.
I use paypal all the time as a secondary business
