I can't remember who said it but I've always liked this quote: "When I became a Christian I sold all my rock albums, when I became Reformed I bought them all back again."

God is not insecure. He's omnipotent. Therefore, he had no problem admitting that Satan has better music.

As a Christian I'm much more fearful of Christian radio than I am anything that is secular. When I'm listening to secular music my gaurd is up and I know how to filter their world view. People turn on Christian radio and are oblivious to how void of the gospel much of it is. I also think the darker tone in secular music is closer to reality than a lot of the happy clappy music on Christian radio.

You sure is stupid boy. Music and religion aren't one in the same. Metallica isn't heavy metal. Grow a pair and listen to Acid Bath. When the Kite Strings Pop - Cheap Vodka Jezebel Scream of the Butterfly

Early Metallica is metal and even their new stuff is hard hard rock. People grow up and become less angry and want to play different music. Bands either change as a whole or they break up due to creative differences for the most part. Some bands also chase the money and make a killing like Metallica or they stay true to metal like slayer. Some bands lose a member in like acid bath and break up or they continue on like Metallica.

Dax Riggs went on to produce some bad arse music after acid bath but I wouldn't consider his solo work, agents of oblivion or dead boy and the elephant men bad music.

Joel Osteen is a bigger threat to me than any metal band I listen to.

Can you be a Christian and like pounding pussy? My preacher says he loves nothing more than going home after church and blowing off steam by fricking his wife all afternoon.

It sounds sinful, but they are married and faithful to their vows. They just really love to frick. A lot.

Tom Araya quote: I am not an atheist; I believe in God. But my religion ends there. I have my own personal belief system that is so strong it allows me to do what I do. I dont have to worry about going to Hell because of Slayer, you know? Everyone has a personal belief system and believes in life somehow.

Also from the Gnostic Gospel of St. Thomas: "The Kingdom of God is inside/within you (and all about you), not in buildings/mansions of wood and stone. (When I am gone) Split a piece of wood and I am there, lift the/a stone and you will find me."

As an Agnostic I tend to believe along these lines as well. I love most music with loud guitars, heavy bass and pounding drums!

G-d is within me in my actions and how I treat people. I do not believe in having to go to a multi-million dollar building with golden statues and high dollar cars in the parking lot to get my salvation.

You can definitely be saved and like anything.

However, keep this in mind; part of accepting Jesus is agreeing to sacrifice your own desires and giving God Almighty control (through Jesus Christ) of your life.

That is a process, and that process in known as sanctification.

Tom Araya and Dave Mustaine are both Christian. Dave won't play some of his older songs due to his beliefs but Tom has never let it bother him.

Most metal uses dark satanic themes, but is actually about overcoming one's inner demons and vices, and rising above them. It typically has a fairly Christian message despite unchristian pagan symbols.

You just ruined heavy metal. How can one person suck as bad as you?

OP: I used to struggle with this as well...and it is true that music does effect mood and such...don't let anyone fool you...but I think being a Christian is about your salvation and belief in Jesus as your Savior....it is then that you start allowing the Spirit to work in you and lead you....If you are convicted about something...try to stop doing it....also...pck and choose what Metal you intake...Dave Mustaine is a Christian now...and his newest album was the first he has ever one a Grammy for...check it out..it's pretty good...

Brian "Head" Welch from Korn is a Christian now...does he not play with Korn bec uase of it?..he didn't for awhile...but then they got back together...

the answer to your question id in your own heart and not something for the OP to decide for you...

filter what you feel comfortable with...but if you are convicted about a particular bamd or song...skip it.

I listen to all kinds of music...and I am a Christian...this isn't rocket science man.

If God didn't want metal music, he wouldn't have given us the electric guitar.
