How we “know” anything past the moon. I mean, what our scientist think could be gravitational waves could actually be something different...something our minds can’t even comprehend. How has anything in space that we haven’t touched or sampled been proven?

I was at the observatory in South Shreveport when this young black guy with dreads engaged a physics professor in a discussion about astrophysics. They clearly knew and respected each other. Of course, I didn't understand anything they were talking about. So, I asked this "black science man" if he could explain it where I could understand it and he did.

He truly could explain it where someone with no physics background could understand. Then, he could simplify it even more when some kids asked him questions.

You want the wikipedia answer or the college course answer?

The cliffs of the wiki answer is that it is physics that deals with astronomy.

The cliffs of the college course answer is that it is a filled full of crazy fricking math, combined with surprisingly little astronomy to describe really really big forces/energies. Like stupid fricking big.

In my first Astrophysics course the professor basically said that for many equations you can "round" the coefficient of constants like the speed of light down to "1" because anything before the exponent won't really matter.

Dude, I know it is bullshite. The earth is exactly 6,017 years old. When Methuselah died at age 976 he had spent his life's work crafting carvings out of rock to fool future people into believing in ancient dinosaurs and people's the secret of the past died with him. He told his story to some people, but like fools they all went on to work on the Tower of Babel, and as we know all men who worked on that tower, were punished and forced to learned new languages which only they knew, so the secret of Methuselah was passed down to his great great grandson, who was my uncle's odd drinking buddy and he told me all about it.
