Don’t hold the baby all the time. It’s that simple.

Dunno but if you figure that out you could make millions.

Well if you leave them lying around all the time the back of their head goes flat. Clingy baby > wopped head

I got a 2 week old that won’t sleep. She’s been doing good, but today she wants the tit, then to be held - while standing - while moving - while simultaneously patting her butt. Getting that cardio in

I have a two person sample (my kids) to speak from

Put them on a regular schedule. Be flexible but feeding at regular intervals gives the baby some routine. Eat, play, nap, repeat

I’m going off memory but the 5’s actually work. (Swaddle, swing, shush, suck, and side).

I swaddled the shite out of my kids and they were sleeping thru the night at 6-7 weeks in their own bed. We never needed to let them cry it out until they were a few months old. Regressions happen but stick to the plan.

Everything is a phase!!!

I didn’t say to leave them lying around all the time FFS.

What is it with 99.9% of the population being unable to have a discussion without using false extreme logical fallacies??

I just said don’t hold them all the time, which implies only holding them part of the time, not never fricking holding your baby. Idiot. Dipshit.

Buy the book “The Happy Sleeper”. It is a great guide on how to approach helping your baby to sleep well.

We have a three month old and it has been a tremendous help for us.

Don’t let a 6 week old cry it out. Do not start that till 3+ months. At 6 weeks they need to be held!!! It goes by fast, so enjoy while you can...even tho it feels like hell sometimes.

We have 6. Still feel guilty about letting the first one "cry it out". Very cruel thing to do. A baby only "knows" when its uncomfortable, whether that's hunger, wet, or feels bad (stomach). You pick them up when they cry.

At 6 weeks old don't let her cry it out, IMO. Just rock her and lay her in her bassinet or whatever you are using.

My wife and I used this online class called Taking Cara Babies.. the most useful thing we learned was SITBACK. It's an acronym. It's a means of intervention but also allows them to learn to self sooth. Wait 2 minutes per step and do this until baby calms down. If she then cries again, start over.

Sit (wait 5 minutes)
Increase volume (white noise, shushing)
Touch (touch their back)
Binky
Add in movement (rock baby gently in their crib)
CRIES - another acronym, basically pick up baby and rock her in your arms
K, it's time to eat

Couple of weeks with this and a strong routine at naptime and bedtime and mine turned into a sleep champion.

We’ve got a two week old, and she basically cries when she’s hungry, wet diaper, gassy, or sleepy. It’s just a matter of figuring out which it is, and solvin it, and then getting 2-4 hrs of quiet time

We are about to start a routine from the ‘Moms on call’ book. Neighbors rave about it and how their kids were sleeping through the night at like 4 weeks
