Filing my Annual Report again this year with the Secretary of State and I have to ask - Is this just a straight up money grab? What is the purpose of an Annual Report?

Nothing has changed for the last several years yet I have to pay $30 to file plus a $5 state fee (what the hell is that)? It's not like they have to do anything relative to my company's existence.

The biggest kicker, if you want to dissolve your registered entity they charge you $100 to do that. WTH?

$35/year for limited liability is a nice deal. You don't have to incorporate, be held personally responsible, and save your fee...

Are you both fricking retarded?
It's there to protect people from fraud and hold companies accountable via the agents/managers of said companies.

$30 bucks isn't shite I have to maintain 12 state contractors licenses. I believe we pay 250 a piece for 2 different divisions in Alabama on top of the $3000 we pay our accounting firm to fill out the stupid form for the state of Alabama just to list the same information that the annual report states. Yes it is a money grab.

I am not arguing the original registration. I get why it is done and all. I am not fricking retarded.

My question was specific. If nothing in the corporate structure changes in 12 months or 12 years, then why do I need to pay a fee? If I need to modify or refile then absolutely charge me. But when I don't, why?

Nah, I'll stay in Texas and not pay my $35 and also keep my income tax.

Because people don't update information if they are not required to. It's pretty simple. People are lazy.

Same reason we have to get cars inspected every year, the system has expenses and overhead. Sure that's the 'money grab' you speak of but if Business owners don't pay for the infrastructure of the system, do you suggest taxpayers pay for it via tax increase somewhere?

Just because your company didn't change this year doesn't mean their overhead went down. You chose NOT to work for the man, so pay your dues.
