The school and family are doing more damage from sheltering the kid and pretty much condoning the bully behavior.

Possibly.

But her classmates will have a rude awakening at some point too. They've been trained to think that behavior is acceptable, and at some point they'll do that in the workplace and then find out they were targeting the boss's niece or someone with a highly valued skill who's far more valuable to the company.

can sympathize with the girl and kinda think a few kids need their arse whipped over it all.

however, it does seem like that the whole thing was made into such a spectacle, it will only serve to alienate and embarrass the girl in the future.

Great, but there's no way in hell she can expect such catering for the rest of her life. She's going to have to live in the real world eventually.... like in college if she plans on going.

In fact, it sounds like she got a better education than the regular kids did considering she got constant 1 on 1 tutoring.

Lastly, whoever the fricking piece of shite kids are who pushed it to this point, i hope they learn a hard lesson later on in life.

As adult teachers and parents they have an responsibility to right whatever wrong was done here. No one wins with this. It solves a temporary problem but doesn't address the long term issue.

Did you read all of the article. The girl is autistic.

Do you always take joy in making fun of people with disabilities?

And youre an adult commenting on a child ...I imagine her peers were probably worse than that. Daily. Constantly.

But by all means, degrade the child.

To be fair, that "child" in 17-18yrs old and graduated high school.

So shes going to, you know, be out in the world with the rest of us. You're acting like shes 10.

trivia nobody cares about:

There is a Lyman Hall at GT but it is the Lyman Hall Laboratory of Chemistry, named after a different Lyman Hall, not some guy last name Lyman.

The Declaration of Independence signer must be the GT one's granddad because he was from GA.

Kids are fricking mean.

Who cars how old she is?
Man, I'm just not a fan of that kinda sht. So what the girl/ young woman is unattractive. So?
God damn, are people that insecure about themselves they have to take down easy targets to feel better? Funnier ? Smarter?

Physical humor on the less fortunate serves no purpose. It's low brow.

Ain't my thing in general.

Still a waste of public money, whether she's autistic or not.

Such special accommodations should not be allowed.

So they obviously knew about the bullying. Why didn't they do anything about it? Where was the school district in this? Where was their "zero tolerance," or does that only apply to things like pop tart guns?

And that's not right either . Raise your kids to stand up for the weak and the challenged. Raise your kids to show kindness and compassion. Raise your kids to lead and not follow.

Take shots at the kid being bullied , but give a pass to the weak minded , shallow , insecure bullies? Easy to tell her to toughen up , huh? Bllsht , where were the tough kids to defend her and stand up for what's right?

No. Raise your kids to change things like this and the world gets better.

i just live in the real world. i think we do an injustice to kids by shilding them and trying to protect them. then when you hit 18 you go from being protected, then no one gives 2 shits if people talk about you toughten up

if he's the type of guy or it's the type of girl that is going to get harassed, that's something she's got to get used to and learn how to handle if she wants to move forward in live, autistic or not. that's just life.

man we have come a long way or gone backwards., when i was in school we used to sit around the table before class and take turns ranking on each other and you get used to it no one gives a shite and you know what, i like ot think shite like that helps me with dating cause i don't give a shite about being rejected today i know what i am i know what i'm not.

"man you so ugly you got to have two tickets when you go to the zoo one to get in one to get out" lol

eventually you get enough of that you learn your place in the world you are an ugly MF lol you are going to be ugly you will always be ugly so you know that's some shite you are used to by the time you get older you ain't shocked when the hot girl ain't looking at you in the club.
