Okay, 20. 10. Whatever, are you happy?

Sometimes there’s no side of the road to pull off on, like on the causeway.

Per AAA, LOUISIANA - Hazard light use is not permitted while driving.

I find the driving with the parking lights on at dusk/dawn crowd more curious. Also illegal.

PSA for the dumb shits that think this is some dangerous practice:
TURNING - in this case ONE light will blink indicating the direction the driver intends to turn. Since it is impossible for the car to split in half and turn both right and left at the same time please do not confuse hazard signals with simultaneous turning. which again is impossible.

BRAKING - in this case both light will be on, however they won't blink. they will be on for an extended period of time encompassing several seconds. It is possible though extremely unlikely that the driver in front of you will be engaging his brake pedal in a rhythmic fashion to exactly mimic the appearance of hazard lights.

BRIGHTNESS OF HAZARD LIGHTS - much like brake lights and turn signals (see description of these items above and how they are separate and apart from hazard lights - THESE ARE VERY DIFFERENT THINGS PEOPLE!) hazard lights will give of a certain amount of illumination. They are after all "lights". However they do not give off enough illumination to really assist in your ability to see the road. That is not why they are engaged. Do not be confused by this. Visibility on the road is vital as in I need to see you and you need to see me, it is a "two way street" in other words. Being able to see things is an important aspect of avoiding running into them. Therefore during a low visibility setting some low level illumination can be engaged to help others see you.

FLASHING AND/OR BLINKING LIGHTS (Generally speaking) - Also try not to be so distracted by flashing and/or blinking lights. if you do happen to encounter brake lights, turn signals or hazard lights while driving please do not become so enthralled by them that you lose focus of the road. this is not las vegas and the lights are meant to be informative, not decorative. Take note of them, process their meaning as explained above (QUICKLY!) and return your attention to the road. In the case of blinking lights please do not continue to take note of every blink, simply note that they are blinking and trust they will continue blinking until the driver disengages the hazard or turn signal.

IT'S LEGAL!! - "La RS 32:327 C. Flashing lights are prohibited except on authorized emergency vehicles, school buses, or on any vehicle as a means of indicating a right or left turn, or the presence of a vehicular traffic hazard requiring unusual care in approaching, overtaking or passing.
" Therefore if you are operating a vehicle in a low visibility setting (i.e. hazardous) then you are allowed under the law to turn on your hazards so other drivers know to exercise unusual care in approaching, overtaking or passing.

I'm of the opinion that people who are bothered by hazard lights in the rain.. people legitimately pissed about it (like most people in this thread).. are the same type of people who continue to drive 70 down the interstate in a torrential downpour.

So if you are being a responsible driver traveling at a safe speed for the conditions, but this speed happens to be 15-20 mph below the posted speed, then it's not a bad idea to throw the hazards on so these fricking retards don't run into the back of you.

I’ve been on the interstate in bad enough weather where everyone was going 20-30mph and almost every car for miles had their hazards on. Is this not acceptable when visibility in less than 10’?

I have my hazards on any time I’m going below the minimum speed limit on the interstate (usually 40) either due to pulling a heavy load up a steep grade or driving through a dust storm or other visibility-restricted weather.

Most retards keep going 75 in bad conditions. Don’t want you killing yourself by sliding under my truck. If your eyes can’t take flashing lights, you shouldn’t have a license.

Now if there are goons driving at a reasonable speed with a slight drizzle with hazards on, yeah, they’re retards, too.

Anyone using their hazards while driving are assholes and should lose their license. It doesn't help you or anyone else see any better and it seems to exclusively be used by people going 30 in the left lane.

These threads always make me laugh. This is such a pet peeve for some on this board and thy cannot understand how some flashing yellow lights in low visibility situations cannot help drivers identify another vehicle.

The counter argument can be made that someone who doesn’t use hazards in a low visibility situation is a dumbass.

Maybe some of your boat driving brothers might do well to run with their hazards on. It might cut down on the insurance claims.
