Here is an article from The Advocate.
LINK

The chief needs to resign because he has lost control of this department.

They need to find a chief from outside the department run off the police union thugs off and get this department back to protecting and serving the public.

I predict in a few months or even a year from now the metro council and person harassed by the BRPD will settle out of court.

Sad part is what stupid thing will BRPD officers do in the next week or so to make the news and tigerdroppings OT Lounge.

One day we can only hope they can focus on getting out and protecting and serving the people of Baton Rouge and not themselves.

The fact that police sought the warrant looking for evidence of criminal defamation — a state law ruled unconstitutional on several occasions in the past 50 years — only increased the flames fanning the controversy.

These dudes are sleezy as frick. I got out of a dwi because the officer falsified his police report and i actually had a good lawyer that called this guy on his bullshite. To top it off the judge made the officer look like an idiot with the guy the that went in front of me. He arrested the guy for running a red light, but the officers dash cam clearly showed the kid didnt run a red light and the judge questioned him if he even knew what the law was.

Quite a few years back I was managing a restaurant and two officers came in at the end of the night saying we owed money for them watching out for the store on a game night. Well we never signed a contract saying we needed security, but they demanded i paid them what we owed them. i said ok send the bill and we will send the check in. No they wanted cash money. So when they said the amount they wanted and for how long they were there for i said let me roll the cameras back to see how long your car was parked outside since the officers never once set foot in the store that night. Well the whispered to each other and lowered the fee saying you are right we were not there for this long. i still refused. They threatened me and the other manager said just give it to them. Well i got seriously pissed and said this is completely illegal yelling at the officers. i threatened to report them to IA and they said if i did that other cops would know and wouldnt come to help if we actually needed it. So the other manager paid them and they left. the next week i got a copy of the contract you are supposed to file when you need late night security. it clearly states to never pay them in cash and always mail the check in to the appropriate office. Basically they get paid in over time for that kind of work but also needs to be taxed. these dudes basically shook us down.

Police are corrupt as hell and will never ever trust them.

They will also sit outside of a bar and pull every single person over who leaves until the bar owner agrees to sign a detail contract. I've seen it multiple times

My buddy had a bday party at Port Royal a few years ago. IIRC, twelve people showed up, 8 driving their own cars. 7 out of 8 (including myself) got pulled over leaving in a 2 hour time span. Not a single one of us was drunk, and none of use got a DWI, but we all got pulled over by the task force.

I even saw them sitting and waiting for cars when I was leaving the parking lot, so I did everything by the book. Pulled me over for going over the center line, which I 100% did not. Cop made me get out, and since I was sober, I did all of the FST. he said I failed every one of them horribly, cuffed me, and brought me to the DWI RV. After spending an hour in there, he finally let me blow in the breathalyzer, and I got a 0.02 BAC. he ended up getting irate, driving me back to my truck at about 120mph, saying "get the frick out", and tearing arse away.

From what I heard, they continued doing the same thing to Port Royal for a couple of months until the bar finally paid up, and the harassment stopped. That is pure, unadulterated extortion

Well anyone with even the most basic knowledge of law knows the Constitution and federal law trumps department policy, and what they did violated both, so its pretty easy to intelligently comment on it when you use your intelligence.

Some people don't have that option, which is glaringly obvious in the comment you are replying to

I worked for a dept in California.
It's one of the largest depts in the United states.
If we did anything like that we would be fired on the spot. Now I retired before social media got big.

The way the dept is handling this shows
1. Police union trumps protecting and serving the people. Isn't this their #1 job.

2. A dept that hides and tap dances around questions is a corrupt dept hiding something.
Seems like it in this case?

3. Federal govt needs to investigate this dept for civil rights violations from chief to police union because something stinks.
If they act like big babies on a small incident how are they violating people's rights and sweeping them under the rug in other cases?

Yes the chief who is a puppet for the police union needs to resign immediately. A new chief needs to come in from a different dept to clean up this dept.

Where is our district attorney saying he will not go after this case?

Maybe we need a new DA that can also show this dept he will not go after cases like this.

To me it's police harassment and the public should have the right to question its police dept which is paid by public tax dollars. It's a type of checks and balances. To me people checking and asking questions about the dept shows an involved community.

Some rep for the police dept. called into talk 107.3 this morning and fed them a bunch of bullshite. Guys name was Don.
Said they didn't know if the guy who sent the email was a cop or not which is why they threatened defamation.

Puhlease. It was a strong arm tactic period. Guy sounded like Les Miles in a post game speech. Just bullshite talking point after bullshite talking point

This reminds me of the article Nola.com did about the top earners in the city.
3 / 10 were officers.
#1 was police Lt Cory Reech who made $190,943. He worked 2,697 hours of OVERTIME in order to triple his base salary. No way in hell he's not asleep on the job.

I don't care about the picture. I don't care if the cop was sleeping or not. Means nothing to me.
I want to know who the judge was that signed off on the warrant. That's it.

The warrant in this story/article clearly states LRS 14:47 Defamation as the criminal investigation. I have no idea why the media lied and said there is no criminal charge on the warrant.

Additionally, someone mentioned how the police tricked the Judge but the Judge reads the warrant and chooses to sign it or not. There is no hidden ink or secret pages in a warrant.

Well, we had one before this guy and Kip and the union ran him off to replace him with this puppet.

Until the monkeys stop running the circus, nothing in that dept will change.
