If you have to ask, the answer is no.

I wear something similar to #1. Brown suede wing tip type thing. They look good with jeans and slacks.

I really dislike the half boot things. I make fun of my boss when he wears them.

Originally Chukkas were designed to use during desert military operations by British soldiers in WWII. Personally I don't understand the point of 10-12 inch boots that you are just going to wear under your jeans. Your so called "half boots" are far more comfortable for casual everyday wear.

I wear one of the following just about every day of the year that I wear jeans or mountain khakis... I mainly wear the Merrells daily on the farm and just around casually.... Actually I've gotten to where I'll even wear them when I go out or take the gf to dinner or something. They're kinda ugly, but I'm not worried about it. They're really comfortable, but I go through about two pairs a year due to being on the farm 9 months out of the year.

They look great with jeans. Nothing wrong with a nice pair of boots.

What boots are you talking about that are 10-12"? If lace up, then yes, thats pretty stupid, but youre talking about an extreme minority of boots that lace up that high. If cowboy, then it's because cowboy boots, especially ones with nice stitching surrounding the sole just look awesome with jeans and they are extremely comfortable. A cowboy will always be 10x more comfortable than any chukka you can find. The standard lace up boots are typically like Timberland 6" boots, which again are WAYYYY more comfortable than any chukka you can find.

If you're looking for sub-$200 chukkas, I'd strongly consider J.Shoes Monarch.

https://www.amazon.com/Shoes-Mens-Monarch-Lace-Up-Boot/dp/B005VNZ466

I've had a pair for a long time, they hold up well, clean up well, and are very comfortable. They aren't goodyear welted or anything, so if the sole ever wears out it'll likely be time to toss them, but just a lower priced option to seriously consider. The "glow" color on them is really nice.

The classic Clark's Desert Boot is also a great option, and pretty much the original.

Allen Edmonds wise, they don't really have a great casual plain-toe chukka. Gobi are really the best they have to fit that area, and the dainite sole is great, but the last is kind of wide.

I have the Bleecker Streets, which are a more dressy captoe chukka, and I would go that route if you're looking for something to wear out versus just casually. Bourbon and Chili are both great colors.

Dundee 2.0 are a plain toe version of that shoe.

Really? If you try and keep up with all the latest "fashions" of the moment then you will go broke.

Silly.

Mezlan Tiepolo, my favorite dress shoe.

2nd favorite, Magnanni.

Rest below are all Allen Edmonds.
