get one of your buddies to punch you in the side of your chin as hard as he can. Get your head to snap around. The point is to knock your arse out cold. Should help with the pain for a little bit. Ask him to stay around so when you come too he can lay you out again.

Broke a few ribs during a car crash. They do not wrap them anymore which eases the pain in fear of contracting pneumonia for shallow breathing.

Take 800 mg of motrin

Do you need to be checked out to make sure you didn't puncture anything?

I had X-rays taken on Saturday but hospital told me it was bruised ribs. Woke up this morning hearing a loud crack sound and then immediate pain--excruciating pain far worse than the old "bruised ribs" diagnosis.

get a compress or something to pull tight your side and itll feel a little better but for awhile you are going to be in a bad way. Breathe slowly and whatever ypu do dont sneeze will be like having a baby.

Wrap in ace bandage. Sleep on the side that's broken. Use your arm to brace that side for deep breaths, sneezing, coughing, etc.

Oh, and 12 weeks from now when it feels better- treat it like it's broken. Doesn't take much to refracture if it isn't completely healed.

Source- just healed

Lot of calcium will help speed the process of healing.

Sharp pains go away in about three weeks.

Broke four skiing. Only thing that helped me was hydrocodone and the little heart pillow they give open heart surgery patients. Looked like a total homo carrying it around everywhere but it was worth it.

I fractured a rib in July.. the first 48 hours are the worst. Basically can't do anything. After that it's painful but you start to become functional again. I have a desk job so I was back to work in about 5 days.

The only way to relieve that pain is medication.

Takes forever. Hurts like hell. Pray you don't get a cough.

I cracked one when I had pneumonia. It was not a fun time.

Broke mine skiing this past winter. Yes it sucks.

Unfortunately the only thing you can do about it is take pain medicine and try to move as little as possible. Getting out of bed and into/out my car was awful for about two weeks. Finally felt more normal after five weeks and was back to weightlifting after 7-8.

I used Bayer Back & Body Extra Strength, it helped somewhat and yes, I went through the entire bottle.

Serious answer... several weeks with each week better than the previous.

Typically the more active, the quicker the recovery. Just remember to deep breathe, guarded chest wall and narcs will increase shallow breathing which will increase chance of pneumonia.
