British people and their teeth

Is it not that common for people to get braces like people do here in the US? Or just take care of their teeth in general?

My boyfriend had braces, and he didn't pay for them. They were free from the government.

That socialized medicine doesn't pay for dentistry. Not necessary I guess.
The wealthy don't always have the best teeth either though. Probably the result of hundreds of years of inbreeding. Maybe they don't add fluoride to their drinking water? Who knows, most of them have fricked up teeth.

Eta: Above post....maybe they do pay for dentistry. Who knows why then

I feel like an emphasis on dentistry is really an American vs. non-American preference as opposed to the Brits just being really against dentistry.

Tell him to send out a memo to his fellow countrymen on dental care. British folks teeth usually look like a vandalized graveyard.

Yes, I know how the system works.

The other poster said that socialized healthcare doesn't cover it, which isn't true. They provide it if they think it's necessary.

re: British people and their teeth
So the teeth have to be REALLY jacked up for them to deem it necessary?

So the British won't just come out of pocket to pay for dental work? If my teeth looked like 50% of the British populations, i'd pay to have my teeth fixed myself. I wouldn't rely on the gubment.

his teeth must have been completely fricked then. I work with tons of british people and 90% if them have choppers that look like something you would find on a crackhead in the us.

I'm not really sure, I was surprised when he told me that. I'm not sure how bad his teeth were before.

They just don't find it necessary to have a perfect set of straight, white teeth like we do here.

Braces are rare. Crest white strips are illegal, because supposedly it damages your teeth enamel.

Brits make fun of us for our obsession with white, white teeth. That and being fat. And dumb. And having no sense of humor.
