Anyone else sick of the overhyped and overfunded Breast Cancer Awareness campaign? Yes, we see most of this during October when everything is painted pink and you can't walk outside your door without seeing some sort of fundraiser, donation can, billboard or charity event to raise money for breast cancer, but it's also impacting cancer studies year round.

First, breast cancer is not nearly as deadly as other forms of cancer. Liver cancer, ovarian cancer, pancreatic cancer, lung cancer and others have far worse survival rates but when's the last time you participated in a "Race to end Colorectal Cancer"?

On the national level, the National Cancer Institute spends over $625M on breast cancer research. Yet lung, prostate and colorectal cancer- which kills way more Americans- receives less than half that funding. Breast Cancer Funding

Consider this chart-

The next time someone from the Susan G. Komen "charity" tries shaking you down for money or your office tries forcing you to walk a 5K in a pink shirt, throw a few dollars to defeat leukemia or pancreatic cancer. Sure, the liver or prostate isn't nearly as sexy to talk about but those who suffer need our support, too.

plus to top it offf Kommen is a BS charity that spends more on advertising and litigation than they do donating to research.

I see this shite and think I want a charity, I would actually donate my time and do the right thing. It makes me sick to see people making millions off of other's donations.

Looking at You, United Way and Red Cross.

From what I see there, if it affects sexy time, we must really get into solving that problem.

Titty cancer and Prostate cancer can reaallllllyyy put a damper on banging, so we gotta see about that first. Sorry if your pooper kills you, save the tits.

It's a pity HIV/AIDS receives so little funding.

Let's put our funds towards something that's not nearly 100% preventable, Mk?

It was the big thing in the 90's and the treatments for HiV have gotten really good.

Breast cancer deaths are highly preventable by early detection. One of the most preventable forms, and easiest to detect. It's about awareness for women to go get tested frequently

Yep, I donate to breast cancer charities because breast cancer has had a huge impact on my life, but Susan G. Komen can frick off.

I was reading an article years ago, and it was saying that had Hiv gone airborne it would likely have been an extinction level event. Pretty scary to think about.

You're complaining about funding cancer research?

It's a shame I can donate to this "charity" and get a tax break, but if I actually help pay the bills of a person with cancer or fund their "go fund me" that's not deductible.

I also agree other cancers need awareness. Just lost my aunt to cancer a little over a month ago.

The obsession with specifically supporting breast cancer because it betters your TV ratings and appeals to an audience that is lacking is really absurd.
