I presume from the disposition of the OT that they are moving to BR?

One of the things I love about New Orleans is that if you put me in a social setting where I don't know a soul, within 30 minutes I'll have met someone who knows somebody I know. (what school did you go to?) We may end up being friends for the evening, or possibly for life, but either way, it's pretty cool.

Roach, people are just really social here. I'm friends with the entire gamut of life. From Vietnamese shrimpers to attorneys, surgeons and anything else. We just want to have a good time.

You're 100% correct in that assessment. My feeling is that I can walk up to a complete stranger, tell them that the food they're grilling smells good, and nine times out of ten walk away with anything from a chicken wing to a chunk of steak. And, probably, a cold beer.

There are a lot of frustrating things happening in Orleans Parish, especially if you reside there. But in the grand scheme of things, I think the planet is better off with New Orleans, than without.

I've never seen either one of them around town. The two people I know well who've had direct contact with them, one as a neighbor and one as an extra in Benjamin Buttons, have nothing but good things to say about them.

I met brad at bar tonique on the edge of the quarter. He was incredibly friendly and polite and went out of his way to tell me bye on his way out.

My father was an extra in Benjamin Buttons...
He probably only made about $20 for a week's work, but he developed a serious mancrush on Brad Pitt.

He had nothing but good things to say about the guy. A scene got delayed and all the old farts were sitting on an exposed exterior porch in period/summer clothing. It was cold. After a few minutes, my father swore that Brad Pitt demanded blankets for the old people.

Perhaps he was worried about them. Perhaps he was worried about bad publicity if a geriatric died of hypothermia on set. I have no clue. But to his dying day, my father swore that Brad Pitt was "A nice kid."

The really only thing frustrating is the thug element. Even that is so much less than the peak. NOLA does need more cops, it does need a better judicial system. But, we had over 500 murders one year in the early 90's, less than 200 now. That is still way too many. I love this place, but I know it's inherent flaws.

I'm still waiting for you to tell me about all the tax breaks they get for owning a home in N.O.
So you don't get how it's advantageous to live in Louisiana vs. living in CA or NY while simultaneously getting film tax incentives for movies made locally?

And I never said that this was the only reason they lived here. Your butt hurts a lot in this thread.

I too like the folksy charm of ole New Orleans. It's like, I can walk down any street anywhere, ask someone what they're cooking - and get stabbed, blood sacrificed by Satan worshippers or even dismembered and stored in some guy's basement freezer.

They didn't get any tax breaks by Brad Pitts made up Mondo Bongo LLC or whatever fake trust LLC owning a second home in New Orleans. Quit being a dumbass in this thread.

I don't remember the specific year, but my brother was working at "Big Charity" and I was in grad school. Officially, there were something like 421 homicides that year, which I think was a record.

My brother swore that there were even more homicides (or eventual homicides), from patients croaking after they were admitted.

My guess is that just like N.O. will always have the Carnival crowd, we'll also have the inner city ghetto no respect for life crowd. Sucks, but that's the way it is.

I don't know where to start, but I'll go Terminator with...
frick you, a-hole.

Do you understand that the film tax subsidies have no residency requirement? Love, like, or hate the legislation; you don't have to be a LA resident to take advantage of the tax incentive program.

You don't want to pay LA state income tax? Move to fricking Montana! (Or FL, TX, etc)

No word on whether they will get another place, but with the huge tax breaks they get by living there, I'd expect them to do so.

The text above is from your original post. I'm still waiting on you to explain how Brad & Angelina's FQ home is somehow subsidized by LA tax payer dollars.

The quote above is from your original post. I'm not very bright, but from reading your original comment, even a dim bulb like myself might think that you were implying that Brad and Angelina had some type of financial angle in owning/selling their property on Gov. Nicholls.

But, again, I'm waiting on you to explain to me how B&A are making out on LA tax credits.
