I used to keep the mug with the puck in it up on the window sill.
Now, I shave after I get out of the shower, so I simply leave it on the lavatory.

Before I get in the shower, I fill a second mug with hot, hot water, and I drop the brush I'll use in there. If the water and brush are hot, it feels even nicer when I lather up.

The two brushes I have are the Perfecto, which is part of the best-selling combo on Amazon (comes with a nice DE razor and stand) and a Semogue 620.

The Semogue 620 is a good boar, "starter-lifetime" brush. The guys over on Badger & Blade, mostly all swear by having this brush as one to keep and use with regularity. I like it alot, along with the Perfecto badger, which is a nicely priced brush for being a badger.

I bought one about 3 weeks ago and after using it the first time, my first thought was "why would anyone use anything else". It was the cleanest shave I had in awhile and if I go several days without shaving, if I use a razor with 4 or 5 blades the hair gets caught up in it easy and doesn't come out as easy.

Now, I just need to find a better shaving cream or something. I want to keep my head shaved and shaving cream doesn't work. I had several cuts the one time I did it, does anyone know if there is a waxy type of shaving cream or something that is better than the foam shaving cream?

Especially for someone who just used one 2 days ago. What an impulsive freak.

I was recommended not to use safety razor to shave my head. Would y'all agree with that?

Use mine to shave my dome, as do many others.

I shave my head with a safety razor. I have a beard so I use it on my neck and head. I recommend getting a sample pack to find the right blade.

I use clubman pinaud aftershave, proraso aftershave, and Nivea post shave balm

I have this and still use it. I also have a bottle of 1805 by Truefitt&Hill which goes for 48 bucks. It smells a little better/different and works slightly better. But nowhere near to justify the price difference.

Try shave soaps. Every name brand makes one. Two that stand out are Mitchell's Wool Fat. Idk how it smells. And another called Cella. Cella smells and works great. Takes a little more time to work a lather than the tubs of cream but they work.

They cream and the soap are essentially the same thing. One you just work harder to rehydrate and make it a cream.

Anything out of a can sucks for the most part. Especially when compared to these.

Plus, safety razors are so much easier to clean. That will help them keep longer.

They will outlive your son with a little hot water. I have a 1947 super speed. Thing looks brand new. They are made of 4 possible things brass, copper, nickel, or stainless. Unless there was a war going on. Then you get some cheaper parts that may give out.

My favorite is a Gillette Richwood. It's from 1921 and the box it came in is near perfect. Has a curling iron burn on bottom of box and somebody wrote a message on top that's faded over a century. Can only see dents of something "To ......."

Why would one buy antique razors?

To get a new one made as well you'd probably get a 100-200 dollar feather all stainless.

You can get a vintage tech (3-piece) or a super speed (what the pawn star guys copies) for about 10-20 bucks. Maybe 30-40 for a spotless one. All Edwin Jagger and Merkur have some pot metal alloy in them somewhere. They will fall apart eventually. May take 5 years but it will. An old Tech is as fragile as a bullet. Lol

After my grandfather passed away I was given his Gillette safety razor. No idea how old it is but it's a travel razor with the short handle. I'm about to buy a long handle to start shaving my head with.

I didn't choose the bald life, the bald life chose me.

There's a letter and a number (1 to 4) under the plate. It'll tell you year and quarter of production.

Being travel sized it's probably the 60's. Gillette realized they had screwed up and made their razors too durable. Guys were buying only one handle. Never needed another unless they lost it. So they had gimmicks. Travel razors and adjustable (slim and fat boy). Started about 57 with the different colored super speeds.

I have one of the same from 65.

It's funny that it was a "travel" razor. Exact same head. The regular handle is about an inch longer. Difference in packing a new pencil vs. broken pencil.
