A lot of them, including the top on for $17,995 are apparently sold.

Click on one of them and it shows you whether it has sold or not.

Doesn't mean anyone paid for them.

Because a lot of VHS tapes have been thrown out I suppose and Disney only releases certain movies at certain times if I'm not mistaken.

VHS tapes are like 8 tracks. Basically worthless and not ever coming back in style like vinyl albums.

I know Ebay better than most. Like I said a minute ago, every one of the auctions in that link sold. They are closed auctions that sold.

I would almost guarantee that all those that sold for astronomical prices were "bought" by secondary accounts set up by the seller so that it looks like there's activity at that price. There are plenty of them on there selling for $10-$25 as well.

A couple of years ago I threw away a box of VHS tapes. Including the Star wars VHS and many disney movies. They took up space and I no longer had a VCR. Found out later that i may have thrown away money. '

Jesus. These people are idiots. Check this out:
I did a search for "walt disney black diamond" plus sold listings. These are SOLD items.
LINK

The first on that list is:

Walt Disney Classic: Beauty And The Beast VHS Rare Movie History!! black diamond
$17,995.99

This shite actually sold!

I have The Jungle Book where some sellers are asking around $5,000, but none have sold. The highest price for one that actually sold is $29.99.

I'm aware. It just seems like a strange thing to want to collect. Can you even get a vcr anymore?

Then the buyer is an idiot.

Idiots create economic opportunities. For example. Look when the NES classic console came out before Christmas. It was selling for $60 in the store, they were sold out, but eBay had them going as much as $400 and people were buying them up. They will eventually be available, but since those people couldn't wait another month or so, they were willing to spend $340 more..

I've got all of them, the only one that I'd say would possibly be worth much would be the original Little Mermaid, which had a poster with it that also has the "special" tower.

I like how they put RARE on all of the Beauty and the Beast listings, and there's like 50 of them.
