This is absolutely tragic and reflects very poorly on USAA.

"A San Antonio man has lost his job because he’s unable to post bail after he was arrested in the aftermath of the biker melee in Waco.
Diego N. Obledo, 40, doesn’t have a motorcycle but was arrested after driving friends in his Toyota Venza to the Twin Peaks restaurant where the brawl broke out, according to San Antonio lawyer A.L. Hernden, who is helping the family."
Obledo has since been fired from his job at USAA, where he was an appraisal review specialist and three months away from being vested, Hernden said. Obledo is not in any gang, but accompanied friends in a motorcycle club for a meeting meant to discuss motorcycle laws and safety, according to Hernden.
“It’s terrible,” Hernden said. “He doesn’t even have a criminal record and is a family man. He’s got three kids and is the sole breadwinner.”

I'm quite sure several people have lost jobs over this, you won't hear about it until Waco can find some more public defenders or they let the people who can afford lawyers get in touch with them.

Hernden said McLennan County officials won't let Hernden post Diego Obledo's $1 million bond because Hernden is from out of town. Hernden said he is certified in Bexar County to post up to $2 million in bail.
“They won’t let me sign the bond,” Hernden said. “The county...will only take (bonds from) local bondsmen.”

The local bondsmen information is really interesting and raises massive red flags. Remember the bail bond criminal action in Jefferson Parish--sounds identical.

are any bikers going to Waco to protest?

30 minutes away but no. I am appalled by how Waco has handled this but making 500 or so biker groupies the face of the movement isn't going to help.
What they really need is a protest where everyone shows up in their regular clothes and drive their cars there.
Rest of country will look at this event and see a bunch of losers on Harley's who are gonna dress up like outlaws, needlessly rev their engines, and solidify the opinion from outsiders that the people in jail are biker trash and can sit there longer.

There are several counties in Texas where you must be a resident to post bail or use a local bondsman. I've had to deal with it a couple of times.
As for a protest I agree with TejasPete it should be a peaceful show of support. If it looks like this will set a precedent on ways to treat bikers (and citizens in general) that law enforcement doesn't care for then some form of protest needs to be made.

I haven't totally kept up since the first few weeks but very surprised it's getting as far as it has with the net as wide as it is.

Would do no good. And the fricking Waco pigs (I refuse to insult real cops by calling what they have in Waco "cops") would probably use it as an excuse to kill and lock up more people.
No, what's needed here are two things...
1. The mainstream American media to shine a spotlight on these people's plight.
2. The ACLU.
So where the hell are they?!?

And that would be wrong?

Nobody thinks that is fricked up?

No. Bail is usually made with property bonds. Being a state resident would fit that bill. Or as you posted you can give a bondsman the customary 10-15% of the cash bond. Is this a conspiracy? No. Is it common practice? Yes.

What are they supposed to do? Keep this man on payroll while he is sitting in jail, and not replace him so they can continue on with their business?

The first lawsuits were filed against McClennan county. Expect a flood of them and then it will get even worse when the ballistics report show that almost all the killed and wounded were by Cops.

Hope they drive them so far into bankruptcy the town of Waco makes Zimbabwe look like Switzerland.

This is the actual complaint filed. It is filed in Federal court and he wants a jury trial.
Out-freaking-standing. Now take that and multiply it by 170+.
BTW, looks Twin Peaks is suing the Waco location.

Waco is already a pretty poor place and it's fixing to be poorer.

I hope this chickenshit, lowlife, lying sack of shite, pig is left without a pot to piss in or a window to throw it out. and the same goes for the rest of his fellow chickenshits.

fricking Waco. There is some serious bullshite going on there right now, but seeing as it's "biker trash" there will be no outcry. I'm waiting for the day that the clubs in the rest of the U.S. start coming to town demanding justice.
There's probably no outcry because a good number of them deserved to be arrested. The rest were idiots who decided it was cool to hang out with pieces of shite.
