Better engineering school: LSU or LA Tech?

My cousin is graduating from high school in the spring (4.0 GPA, 34 ACT) and is leaning towards Tech to pursue a mechanical engineering degree. I guess because I went to LSU for undergrad, I always heard my friends brag about how great it is at LSU.
He's also waiting to hear from MIT, but I don't know about his SAT scores, and I assume it's extremely difficult to get in there.

so his 2 finalists are MIT and La Tech? Sounds legit.

LSU will result in better and more job opportunities, in general.

MIT
LSU
LA Tech
One of these doesn't belong
ETA: LSU or Tech shouldn't be his back up plan to MIT. With those grades/scores he should be able to get into a very good school if not MIT

Why go to either of these schools with those stats?

I don't know the answer to your question, but I was very amused by his three choices of Tech, LSU, and MIT.
One of these things is not like the others.

whats the best ACT score you can get these days?

He probably can't go wrong with either one, if he's really that smart then he'll get a good job. I'm in ME at LSU and while I think the majority of the professors suck balls, the program has a good reputation among employers. Also, the amount of recruiting that big name companies do on campus is ridiculous which makes it easy to get a job if you take advantage of it.

depends on the program. Some are better at Tech, some are better at LSU. I would argue that LSU offers the better overall college experience, but if he's in engineering and going in with a 4.0 GPA and a 34 ACT, he's not looking for, nor will he find "the college experience" no matter where he goes.
