I'm a big fan of the new Mazda 3s.
Great cars when new, but they aren't a Honda or Toyota at 75,000 miles.

Fin, August was excellent.

if i get a mazda, the price better be way cheaper than a honda, not so sure it even is.

I would have to go with the Honda. I'm kinda bias though bc my 06 accord has 216k on it and still runs great.

It is, but still isn't a great deal, IMO.

I have had both and like the Honda Civic more. In that date range, you will get more for your money with the civic. I am also biased since my wife works for Honda. We have an 07 pilot and 98 Accord with just shy of 300k miles. It is my daily commuter.

I think the Mazda3 is the best compact car you can get now...at least until the updated Cruze and Focus hit the market soon.
The 3 makes the Corolla and Civic look and feel bland by comparison. A gas powered Jetta or Golf with the 1.8 might be a good alternative....but obviously you'd want to avoid the diesel.
Edit: between the Corolla and the Civic, I think the Civic is less bland and more entertaining to own. Honda's are generally very reliable and easy/cheap to repair.

I can't argue with this. I've only ever driven Toyotas. Mazdas are just a good deal in terms of getting all the bells and whistles for a pretty low price. If I'm looking for a car to drive for 100,000 miles or more I'm going Toyota every time. I'm just not sure how many people think that way when purchasing a new car.

Civic. More sporty feel. My fiance got one brand new in 2007 and its her daily now, has over 150k miles on it and zero issues other then a recall for her visor.

I personally like Hondas. They rarely break down, and when you want to trade it in you get a freakish amount back. Mrs. Gar's mother turned in her honda element after 200,000 miles and got $7,500 towards her next car. Plus, my honda accord just made it from houston to baton rouge and back on one tank of gas, and the civic gets even better millage than that.

Everybody that drives a civic feels like they have to go 83 mph and pass me when I'm cruising in the left lane.
It never fails. I'm just chilling, doing 74 mph, and some chick or a dude drinking Monster has to come barreling down the interstate proving their shite hauls arse forcing me to brake check them.
Slow down nerds. I'm smoking doobies and listening to Neil Diamond, trying to relax.

Mazda mildly peaking my interest and kinda sucks the 16 has so many changes and improvements from '15 models on civics

I am driving a 2005 Honda Civic with 150K miles.
