Hitting the gym tonight for the first time in months. What is the most effective way to minimize eventual soreness?

Light Cool down work, stretching to move the lactic acid out of your muscles, drink some kind of recovery drink after that.

take it easy. Seriously...lift about half as much as you want to and just ease your way in to it. still gonna get sore, but not "oh god I can't walk for 5 days" type sore.

1. Start off easy and ease into exercising.
2. Foam roll before and after
3. BCAAs
4. Fit-Aid recovery drink

Creatine, BCAAs, Glutamine, Protein

Just put a lot of shite in your body, mostly that ends in the ine sound, and you should be fine

No way to avoid soreness completely. DBAP. If you haven't done a lot of physical activity for a while it's something you have to work through when you're getting back into the swing of things.

the most effective way is to just take it easy

but honestly, if you are not slightly sore after going months with no workout, I'd question the effectiveness of your work out

If you've laid off for awhile it's just going to be a painful few days post workout. Not much you can do.

If you are seasoned, so to speak, and are still sore you need to space your workouts apart or lighten your total work load.

Like the others have said, ease back into it. You wanna hit it hard, but as long as you're doing a little something, you'll make progress.

Can't completely avoid soreness, but if you go in there and act like you've been working out for a year straight, you're going to hate yourself for a week.

Yep, I like feeling sore too. But, the soreness of working out for the first time in a long time is not the enjoyable kind. It's the "i can't extend my arms and legs" kinda sore.

Watch the old men, they know. After working out, take long shower. Then relax and stretch out in the locker room bench. Wait about 15 minutes before getting dressed.
