VRBO.com? You may be able to contact the owner and make a deal if the property isn't taken yet and it is truly "last minute."

If all else fails, you can check Groupon. There are some pretty good deals from time to time.

nothing beats the name-your-own-price tool.

I used that a few weeks ago at the last minute and ended up staying in this place for $70/night:

This. They've usually got some pretty awesome stuff.

ETA: Groupon would be the first place I'd check for an awesome last-minute vacation package. I just looked for the heck of it. They've got some really cool stuff.

St Louis Union Station

Cool hotel, maybe makes up for St Louis in general?

Pretty much. St. Louis hadn't changed a bit from when I went as a kid 15 years ago, and that's not a good thing. It's almost as if they completely missed the hipster movement. There seemed to be no artsy scene, no revitalized downtown, to gentrified old neighborhoods, ect. The city looked like it was frozen in 2002.

Also, the Union Station had a Catfish Town-esque development in the back with a Landry's and a Hard Rock Cafe.

It seemed like the whole city had missed the boat about how to attract and keep people downtown outside of business hours.

It would really benefit from 1000 hipsters and some decent urban planning and vision. The area between Busch Stadium and Union Station could be something really special, but alas...
