Is it weird that I think snow in the desert is awesome/gorgeous? Maybe it's just that both (desert and snow) are such a novelty to me growing up in La.

The south rim of the Grand Canyon has an elevation of about 7,000 ft. That's high country! Snow ain't unusual there.
In the photo, you can follow that rim trail to the Bright Angel trailhead, which is about 100 yards down the trail to the left. From that point it's about a 21 mile hike to the north rim of the canyon.
