Like everyone else said, it sounds like a bad hangover. Had a roommate that drank so much he would throw up if he didn't drink.

Yea, a true addict (physically) will drink or do drugs to stop themselves from getting sick

agreed...I eventually started feeling so bad after getting just a buzz, that I came to my senses and basically stopped drinking...

I'll have a drink or two on home football game days, but I really don't need anything that is gonna make me feel that damn bad...

I haven't hit that point yet, but I definitely cant get drunk without really feeling it anymore. In college I could sleep for three hours, get up and walk off the hangover in an hour or two.

I really hope I don't end up like my dad, once he hit 40 or so he basically had to quite drinking entirely because he'd wake up with a terrible headache the neck day after just one or two drinks.

What's his routine? I normally take it easy in neck days.

Sounds like you've come through it to a much more toned down state at this point, but you should really, seriously consider a trip to your Primary Care Physician if you're ever in any situation remotely resembling these symptoms (the shakes, particularly) again. You even still should probably have some blood work done and have your doc consider putting you on a drug designed to help step you down over the course of a week or so (though based on what I'm reading, this likely isn't necessary anymore. But I also don't know you)

Program like AA are fantastic if you are ready to make a change. If you don't want to quit, though, then you're probably not going to do it. If you do want to quit, a support group is a wonderful thing. And being able to be part of the support group for others is another pretty awesome experience in life (assuming it's done in a non self-indulgent manner).

It wasn't worth it. Just drinking beer it took 20 minutes to get a cold one. Everyone ordering a drink and 8 shots in front of you. I ended up leaving early.

If you're "having the shakes" after drinking, you're physically addicted, withdrawing, and warrant a trip to the ER for likely admission to the hospital.

People always told me that once I turn 25 I wouldn't be able to drink like I use to. To be honest, I haven't noticed a difference and I'm now 27.

What? he said he goes days without drinking during the week without feeling bad

Getting the shakes the day after pounding some
beers is a different thing...

If he was withdrawing due to addiction, he would feel even worse the second day after the hangover

For what it's worth, if you have the "shakes" from drinking you qualify for substance abuse.

Not coming from me, that comes from a treatment center.

Maybe so, but there is such a wide range of varying degrees to addiction imo

Those are definitely worrisome numbers., especially the AST being so much higher than the ALT. Both numbers should be below 45 or so.
