Becoming a Certified Welder

On average, how long does it usually take for someone to become a certified welder after they start a Vo Tech school like ABC?

Depends on if you have to wait for a vacancy in the trailer park. Otherwise I'm sure the no credit check applications are pretty easy to fill out to move in ASAP.

smoke meth and live in a trailer park. Can you satisfy those terms immediately, or do you need a couple of months to adjust your lifestyle?

differs by the welder I would guess. Being certified would just mean you can pass the test right?

piss test and a welding test always worked for me

I guess what I'm asking is how soon after starting school should one be able to pass the certification test? I know it varies by welder, but what do you think the average time is?

So you think you are better than someone that has a blue collar job?

You don't have to go to school to weld. Some of the best welders I know practiced on their breaks, showed their foreman and when the foreman thought it good enough, they went and took the test.

Beat me to it
Funny thing is a lot of blue collar workers earn more than college grads

These guys are just being dbags and probably don't know much about the real world. There's a guy down my street that is a welder and his wife is a stay at home mom. There's not a house on our street less than $300k. Yeah, I think he's doing pretty good for himself.

These guys probably make less than the average welder.

If you live in Ascension Parish. RPCC started a welding class. My client is a master welder (He won't work for less $100/hour) and teaches the class. He built 10 vessels (hollow containers) for US Navy submarines...made $50k.

There is a huge shortage of welders. My cousin works on a pipeline and some of the welders he works with pull well into six figures a year.

Welder a are in very high demand. Get certified and go work turnarounds and construction around the country.
It is insane how in demand those guys are.

I don't know how long it takes to get certified but a good welder/fabricator can name their price right now

If your are willing to work and can weld worth a damn, you can top $100k with ease without traveling out of the gulf south. Everyone is begging for welders right now. I have buddies who've been making that sort of money since we graduated high school in 2005. My dumb arse is way down on the career earnings to date because I decided to go to college.

Welders in my field make about 4500 a week, not sure why people are hating.

Someone needs to open a welding school in Lake Charles area. I know they have the ABC school but a new up to date welding training center in this area could potentially partner up with on of the 'players" in the industry and make a killing. If or should I say when this work pops in the area welders will be shipped in from overseas.
