Beating somebody up and then feeling bad about it?

Two incidences bring remorse for me.


In junior high, at lunch time, group of guys sitting at a table. We are discussing who would win fights among us. My friend and I are discussed. My friend says he would whoop my arse. It still puzzles me today why he would say this b/c he is an unathletic chubby guy. It heats up quickly and we step outside. I beat his arse pretty bad (black eye and busted lip). I always cringe when I think about this b/c I took it to far. He ends up being my best friend all through high school.


When I was 25 I was at a party. Some guy, who I hardly know, starts talking shite. Throwing insults my way all night. I let a couple slide but then I have had enough. I walk up to him and smack him up side the head. That was the end of it. 3 years later this same guy is now one of my good friends. We play basketball, softball, and fish together. He is good guy and I feel a little bad for hitting him. Oh well.



Anybody have stories where they feel guilty for beating someone up?
