They tossed out a quick blurb then went about their daily divisive business. The honest truth is they don't give a frick about people like that kid because he holds no political or financial capital for them...unless the cops or a white person killed him. It's their gleefully ignorant cultural deficiencies in a nutshell.

however you feel about the letter and/or Broome it's clearly in the chiefs best interest to respond to the letter professionally and to continue a dialog with her office, if he wants to stay chief. She's begun a process and he needs to manage it and neutralize the threat

I'm gonna take a leap and say he's more clever and experienced in this sort of thing than she is, he needs to use it

It's mostly about maximizing the monetary settlement he and the officers will get in civil court from the City of BR. She either has no one with any wisdom advising her, or she is refusing to heed said advice.

you clearly know more about BR politics than I do
still it should help his pr case if he engages her
he can still ignore her requests but he should be talking to her

We have the worst mayor in the country, right next to Mitch. How can one person be so fricking stupid? I don't understand it.

Again, consider that this is the same mayor who honored Malcom X Day. One of the biggest racists out there.

If some feel the need to use that Gary dude as a avatar pic, someone might as well us it in their signature.

With the amount of money the Sterling family(that left him to live in a shelter) got, I'll allow it.

What she's afraid of, is the state coming back with a decision that they won't prosecute and a chief who won't punish the officers. After that there's nothing she can do.

Actually doing nothing is in her best political interest. If the Feds had charged them she could say how right this was. It didn't, so she can claim outrage and no control. If the state prosecutes or not the same. But if she forces the chief of police she gets the blame of the lawsuits and feeds red meat to her opponents.

She should just sit quiet and hope it passes. Failing that she should claim outrage and embrace the I don't control anything role.

But I think she is full of reactionary racist outrage and wants the white boys fired no matter the costs.
