Cool house, the kitchen island seems to be way too high, maybe it's just the way picture was taken.

It's ok for now, but in 20 years it will be viewed the same way disgusting 70's homes are viewed today.

I have.

There are a hell of a lot of trees around that house too.

I do damage assessments post-hurricanes... there were plenty blown out in Gustav. Don't remember any from Isaac though. And a lot of the Gustav ones were from wind, not debris.

ETA: That said, if this house is designed right, that shouldn't happen just from the wind forces.

You've never seen a piece of flying debris go through a window in BR during a hurricane?

The large tree limb that went through my roof and a dormer last hurricane says GTFO.

What is that, "Modern Farmhouse"?

It looks ok but i think in 20 years it will look like the modern spaceship design of the 60s and 70s. And that kitchen sucks.

Right. That was not a consequence of having big picture windows/big sliding glass doors or not.

My issue is, all that exposed wood doesn't really hold up well in our climate. Other than that, I like it. I don't get the "it doesn't look inviting" deal. I think that's a function of lack of furniture. Other than that, I don't see what is not "inviting" about the place.

All the thousands of pseudo A. Hays Town clones throughout BR are horribly tired.

Here's one in New Orleans that I really like. Feels like a home in Copenhagen:

I can't stand really modern looking houses like that. I will take a traditional house over that bullshite. Those houses make it look like you cant even be comfortable in it because your too scared of messing something up.

Tired of the old stale architecture.

New Orleans has some of the most unique architecture in the country, this house looks very similar to most west coast mid century modern updated homes.

I'm surprised someone had the balls to build a home like that.
