I bought my truck 3 weeks ago, came back the next day to drop my spare keys off on the trade in just to find out my truck had a recall. Since they were looking at something on my truck already, they told me they couldn't give me my keys back to the truck I bought less than 24hrs ago due to the recall. Needless to say, I got extremely pissed because they sold me a truck before fixing the recall and they wouldn't give me my keys so I could bring my truck back into work on it at my convinience. The recall was on the seat heaters...
I got my keys back and was able to bring it back later but that was after chewing several peoples asses out.

There is a lemon law in most states and I think also a buyers remorse law that lets you return a vehicle and cancel the transaction within 48 hours. At least in Georgia there is. Maybe LA is different.

I bought a new Ford pickup on Labor day weekend. Being the beginning of September in NOLA, it was still hot as frick. After driving off the lot with the new truck, I had to go to LaPlace for something for work. On the interstate, I heard a thump and all of a sudden my A/C stopped blowing cold air.
I went back to the dealership with the truck I had bought 30 minutes before. The shop checked it out and one of the freon hoses had ruptured. They didn't have that hose in stock and the computer showed it was backordered from the factory, expected delivery in 2 weeks.
I raised hell, take the truck back, rescind the sale, etc.
They finally took a hose off another truck and put it on mine.
I know CSB, TL, DNR

Almost bought a wrecked truck. It was a beautiful z71. After getting everything set up and ready to make the purchase a few days later he says "oh I forgot to mention that the truck was wrecked". By law I have to show you these pictures. The thing was fricked up. From the pictures the had every piece of the body replaced. frick that.

You sound like a brat and like you are buying your first car. The dealership probably overcharged you on a BMW 3 series.
Nope, got it under invoice, but thanks for the concern.
What is it that you got overcharged on? A Honda Element perhaps?

Original, sick burn kid. You're complaining on a message board about the process of buying a car as if you thought you could hand the dealership money for a vehicle and walk away with keys in hand. I'm sorry but this is the part in life where you start having some sort of responsibility.

My only bad experience is when I got stuck with a new salesman and he slid the price over on a piece of paper and it was probably 3k over sticker price. I laughed in his face and requested a different employee. Guess I had the look of an inexperienced buyer.

He saw that geo metro thing you were driving and figured he could get one over on you

I guess you don't realize it is not the salesman that is setting the price.

what bad experiences (if any) have you had at dealerships?
Pretty much every time I walk into one, unless I have paperwork already with the price on it that I'm paying.

I realize this, but I also realize I was eligible for a few things and he was trying to get me sold for the highest price he could.

Ran out of ink during the heres my best offer here is what we can do deal.....

You didn't car fax or go to a dealership that provides one?
Posted on 3/22/14 at 6:57 pm to sbr2
New salesman are the best because they are just trying to sell the vehicle and you can get it cheaper

LA has redhibition laws. It is a step up from lemon laws. Louisiana is actually progressive for once.

Redhibition = good.
To not get screwed in buying a vehicle, you pretty much have to have a personal friend in a leadership position at the dealership or buy three or more at a time.
OP buying a new 3 Series. Good luck. They are beautiful motorcars and there's a reason BMW HAS to include an aggressive warranty. The day before the warranty expires: sell it, give it away, trade it in, whatever. Just be out of it.

What constitutes getting screwed? How much profit does a dealer have to make for you to consider getting screwed? A thousand? Two thousand?
