I think I need to become a physical therapist. I foresee a lot of money in that soon.

we had an in-house PT at our gym who had to bail because they weren't getting any business. She mainly was only dealing with mobility issues, not many injuries at all
Tough to stay busy through direct access. You are a fool if you really believe there aren't more injuries because of cross fit.

I visited a box here and it looks pretty cool. I like all the equipment they have. I just can't swing 150 a month for it.

I've never tried with a vest. I just use a weight belt and strap a 45 & 10 pound plate around my waist. 55lbs is the most I have ever attempted and I know I could do more, but it puts too much strain on my shoulders when I get that high up

It really gets a bad rep. Especially on this board, most of the people are clueless.
90% of the GIFs posted here will not be from a Crossfit class.
Ive been hurt more in the last year in my men's softball league then from Crossfit

Word. I don't judge it. The professional crossfit dudes look ridiculously swole, so I'm not hating.

pretty cool myth going around
Incorrect. Source:myself and the other PTs I work with. There are plenty of people in phenomenal shape in crossfit. There are also PLENTY who should not be doing half of the crossfit exercises they attempting with their overzealous trainers.

No doubt. It definitely isn't.
But its better to see firsthand then to believe these GIFs or physical therapists that say they are getting a ton of CF injuries. Normal gym goers have kept them in business for years.

Ah yeah that explains it all. You probably also think the biggest guy knows the most about working out.

It's certainly not for everyone. I hated on crossfit for a long time.
I was a weightlifter......heavy weight.......kind of a bodybuilding split. I had some nagging aches and pains that just would go away and I had 0 mobility/flexibility.
I decided to finally give Crossfit a try about two months ago and have enjoyed it so far.........partially due to some really good coaches.
I also don't have near the aches that I used to have and I still get to throw around some heavy weights.

Trust me I laugh at the idiots in the weight room too. My beef with CF is the competition side being applied to the untrained athlete. No different than someone trying to bench too much because their friend could do it.

Who knows? Maybe these people would be coming in anyway had they gone to a regular gym rather than a box. I guess you can argue that as crossfit gets more popular with more people doing it, just by nature it will send more people to a PT and that has nothing to do with it specifically. It's not like I have any stats to go on here. Just the word of friends.

same here. Had a nagging shoulder pain for years because of an old baseball injury. It's never felt better.

Fast, uncontrolled movements are what I have most commonly heard.

I will say that the owner of the box here seems to be fairly responsible. He says that, although they are 24 hours, you can't have a key unless they know you have proper form.
