It's not that hard to drink yourself to death if you're drinking boatloads of heavy alcohol and more especially before you go unconscious.

Suspension of Greek activities is coming down, I heard

All Greek life organizations are having emergency meetings tonight.

I'm sure Greek life will lose their parade ground privileges.

I would think manslaughter as well, but that's not what I heard.

negligent homicide could be used here, no?

BRPD brought the DWI van out to the Parade Grounds one Thurs night and told the fraternities to have a "couple of beers" and walk over to blow into the machine. Intent was to show how you may feel fine but aren't suited to drive. It quickly turned into who can blow the highest number and they had to shut it down.

exactly what happened to the breath machine's in the bars like zz and duvics

20 arrested and 1 charged with murder, I heard.

Really? That seems like overkill. How could 20 people be responsible for what happened with this kid? I wasn't in a frat and despised them when I was in school so I don't know anything about hazing or whatever, but I drank myself into a coma several times when I was in school and my friends did too. Not to mention all the drugs we did. If I would have drank myself to death at one of those parties I'd be fricking furious if my friends were arrested for that. Well, I'd be dead so I couldn't be furious but you know what I mean.

Not only are DAs charging, but getting convictions of murder for drug dealers whose clients overdose on their supply.

How much different is this?

FWIW. HIllar was one of the pioneers in those types of cases. That doesn't bode well for anyone involved in this deal.

You can't kick off all fraternities when a large portion of donations come from fraternity alumni

you think the alumni want to deal with this kind of shite? Different day and age my friend. You can't defend a death under these circumstances no matter how much you contribute or what chapter you belonged to. Greeks have been under scrutiny for the last 20+ years. Events like this only make a move to ban them easier and more acceptable.

What would keep frat brothers from just walking over there as a group anyway? Or meeting up over there as a group?

20 guys there watching this guy drink himself to death because he feels forced to drink, and not one stepped in to stop it?
Sounds like 20 cases of involuntary manslaughter. Though you never know after the Penn State case.

I practically tried and it's harder than you think. I'm a 170 lb dude and I drank a fifth in a day more than once and I'd be comatose for 12 or so hours but I always woke up eventually.

No way they charge anyone with murder. Manslaughter, but not murder

Ehh...

quote:

2006 Louisiana Laws - RS 14:30 — First degree murder

§30. First degree murder

A. First degree murder is the killing of a human being:

(7) When the offender has specific intent to kill or to inflict great bodily harm and is engaged in the activities prohibited by R.S. 14:107.1(C)(1).

quote:

2011 Louisiana Laws
Revised Statutes
TITLE 14 — Criminal law
RS 14:107.1 — Ritualistic acts

Universal Citation: LA Rev Stat § 14:107.1

§107.1. Ritualistic acts

C.(1) No person shall commit ritualistic mutilation, dismemberment, or torture of a human as part of a ceremony, rite, initiation, observance, performance, or practice

Hazing that results in a death can definitely fall under 1st degree murder in LA.

It is and its probably what LSU and the DAs office wants. They are gonna go full bore on this to give the public perception that this wont be tolerated. They are going to want to make an example out of as many of these members as they can.

You should google "alcohol poisoning".

As someone who has had it, unaidded alcohol poisoning is rare. Really rare.

The night I got it I was drinking pureethanol and had at least 14 red bulls.
