Wow, glad I saw this. Every week, there is new evidence that I am right about aliens.
I am hoping, as one poster said, that we can get confirmation of intelligent life on another planet before the end of the decade (he said "our lifetime" but why wait?).
As telescopes get more powerful, we will confirm alien structures and Tier 2 aliens.

Within ninety days, I guarantee you that this find will be the talk of the physics community (and yes I admit I've never taken a physics class but I still know a lot about physics from the practical viewpoint). Telescopes with great power are enabling us to jump years ahead of where we would be through space travel. This is a great time for space exploration and alien investigations.
AND: Think about this - those structures are thousands of light years away, which means we are seeing them in an "antique" state - one can only dream about what it must be like there right now.

And, since these alien structures are many thousand years old, that does confirm ancient aliens (though not necessarily here, but that is a ton of proof).

it's good common sense though -- especially given what we know about our own society.
it would be pretty incredible if we discovered a type II civilization though. and terrifying.

Good point on extinctions - but we can still hopefully confirm that sophisticated alien constructed structures exist in our universe.

Why are you assuming this is a Type 2 ETI? It very well could be a Type 3 that has gone beyond it's galaxy venturing into a scale that Kardashev never envisioned.

I think if you read a history book, you'll find that it is filled with examples of different cultures coming face to face with each other, and then they start trying to exterminate each other
