If someone is suffering and dying how is it more humane to preserve their life for our selfish reasons than to inject them with enough Morphine to let them die comfortably?

because those people have no compassion for others. I see nothing wrong with someone killing themselves if they want to end the suffering.

The potential for people to be encouraged to it by family for selfish reasons of the family.

Or people with psychological issues who would take suicide as a solution to their issues.

Neither of those are good for society. Now, a truly terminal patient taking a morphine overdose on the way out isn't a huge moral quandary for me.

Taking someone off a machine that is breathing for them and then just letting them dies you can administer a morphine drip every so many times an hour, but they should be able to just let them go. Pump them with morphine before you take them off the machine so thy go peacefully, no one should have to suffer because "family" wants 30 more minutes with a person.

You're clueless. Be thankful you can't comprehend the suffering anyone is going through to seriously consider it.

Physical or mental people who go through with this just want to end the suffering.

It's the hardest, strongest, toughest decision a person will ever make if they decide to end their life.

You've obviously contemplated the issue for a solid 5 minutes before posting your jackassery. Solid work. Which bumper sticker should I consult to get a better idea of your foundational thinking?

IF it is allowed it should be restricted to people with terminal illnesses. Someone who has stage one cancer that is easily treatable shouldn't be able to have it.

Not always. People jump from rooftops because they get dumped. Psychological state is an important consideration in determining whether someone needs counseling or if assisted suicide is something that should be pursued..

You've never posted a logical thought on any subject that I've read on TD, yet you try so hard to be an insider. Your posts remind me of Ray Lewis' so commentary on sundays.

If you've never been in a position to seriously contemplate it why post your stupidity? You have nothing of value to say. On any topic I've ever read.

Empty posts but please enlighten us on your ending life point of views Mr it's detrimental to the economy to let them go. You're beyond ignorant on topics you speak on.

This but I also think it's about people's unhealthy relationship with their own imminent death.

It will start with the good intentions of allowing people who are dying to get help in doing so.

Next the "right to die" will extended to those unable to make that decision for themselves. It will be those who are in vegetative states, severe mental handicaps, things like that.

Of course at this point what we have done is given the state the power to kill people who have committed no crime other than being deemed better off dead.

Next step will be to include those who are a burden to the state, perhaps even a threat to the state.

Thd holocaust will not start with one giant leap from nothing to the gas chambers, instead it will be in little steps, bit by bit, each step seemingly innocent and well intended and oh so logical. Much like the frog in the pot of boiling water, by the time we realize the Pandora's box that has been opened, it will be too late.
