So as I watch the crowds in Baltimore throwing rocks, setting fires and shooting at police I think that being in one of those armored trucks is a pretty good idea. What happened to all the OT'ers who posted recently that Police shouldn't have those "tanks" and that they were never needed?

I stand by my opinion that they're unnecessary and only add to the problem. Two wrongs don't make a right.

I don't understand why the cops aren't shooting rubber bullets at this point

They still don't need MRAPS and anyone who thinks they do is an idiot.

Glad to see you are sticking to your guns despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary.

You other assholes can suck it. The posters from the original thread in which we discussed this at length knew what I was talking about.

Not MRAPs. Those are stupid. The BearCats like the SWAT teams at the riots are driving.

I agree that in these situations, they are a perfect vehicle for crowd purposes.

The rioters can not flip them. They can't damage them with bats or beer bottles.

You can beat them all you want and even shoot them, and nothing at all will happen to the vehicle

Would you be brave enough to be a Police officer and face a riot like these officers are up against?

Those trucks serve more than an offensive purpose. They also serve as cover and a means to evacuate injured officers. How would you propose that police deal with these issues if they didn't have armored vehicles and riot gear?

I'll await the pictures of police in armored vehicles and riot gear from any riot pre-2000 that are surely coming to support your statement.

Evidence of what? That people can throw beer bottles at a police vehicle that probably cost more than 5 squad cars and is an obvious attempt at intimidation?

Do your own research.

In case you need help

Take a look at the Watts riots in Los Angeles. This is probably before your time but, LA was burned to the ground in that riot. The Rodney King riots of the 1990's was also horrific.

Civil unrest is nothing new. The difference is political correctness.

Once it gets to the point that the police feel the need for armored vehicles, that's the clue that it's time to call in the National Guard, who do have those type vehicles.

2 perfect examples. Show me a picture of the police in Los Angeles in the 1960s or 1990s in an armored vehicle. And I'm not talking about a reinforced fedex truck. I'm talking about whatever the equivalent of the military vehicles being used today was back then.

And now it would seem so do the cops.. No need for the Guard.

They wouldn't be needed if these shitty acts by cops wouldn't happen.

Pretty easy.
