Timeline:
1) Obama's office states that he will not be leaving his vacation to visit Louisiana.
2) Edwards covers for Obama by saying that he had asked the President to stay away for a week or two.
3) Trump announces that he will visit Louisiana.
4) Edwards says that he hopes that Trump isn't coming here for a photo op.
5) Trump arrives and we get more national coverage.
6) Clinton immediately calls Edwards and breaks her silence on Louisiana and sends out a social media push to her 5 Million + followers to donate to the charities suggested by Edwards.
7) Obama immediately announces that he will visit Louisiana after all (in contradiction to Edwards' "wait a week or two" request).
8) Edwards admits that Trump's visit was helpful.

Other than Edwards' admission that Trump's visit was a good thing, everything has followed party lines.

I get all of that. But if the President being here means more cameras and another day of this disaster making headline news across the country, isn't that a net positive? Because that is the same thing everyone said about Donald Trump, and rightfully so. Why are we holding them to different standards?

I never said not to come. I want the president to be here. I just think he needs to show a little more respect for Louisianians. And we shouldn't have to ask for it, either.

I think quite a bit of people feel this way about Donald Trump too.

I'm sure there are plenty of women and Hispanics in Louisiana that have felt neglected by him at some point.

My whole point is that when Trump was here, everyone was all about putting the politics aside because he was bringing much needed attention. Regardless of how stupid that memo from Obama was, him being here brings attention as well.

I was going down Plank road and Air Force One came in right over my head. Got to watch it land.

Visiting flooded areas for 40 min. Drove down Plank Rd and going to Zachary. Sounds like that might be it.

Bush for not landing in New Orleans on Wednesday after Katrina. That was less than 48 hours after landfall, and the rescue phase was still in full force. Bush landing would have cost lives, based on the disruption that inevitably happens when POTUS shows up.

These situations aren't similar at all in terms of scale or response. Katrina was 100+ billion in damage and had ~1500 deaths. There was video of Americans stranded at a very recognizable facility.

Bush not coming only highlighted the failure of the federal government's response in the immediate aftermath of the storm. FEMA is a whole different animal because of Katrina.

President Obama should have gone to Louisiana days ago, instead of golfing. Too little, too late!

Is there a mini-me Air Force One? I don't even know. It was pretty big.

I saw all the cops stationed around and thought "Must be president time" and then I looked up and there was a plane. I was thinking "It can't be...". Seriously it was like 100 feet over my car.

I'm like a big kid. I just like seeing shite like that.

What is that an animal that does nothing? FEMA has done a whole lot of nothing for this event.

I am not taking up for the president, I am just curious. Were you as mad when President Bush was on vacation during Katrina? I know he left his vacation two days early, but president Obama was on a 16 day vacation while GWB left his vacation on day 27 on a planned 29 day vacation.
