At my wedding, unless my wife/her family wants to pay, I'll be having a cash bar. If you can't enjoy yourself at a wedding without getting trashed, I wouldn't want you there anyway; and if you do it'll be on your dime, not taking money away from me.

No one is saying they have to go there and get shitfaced. Sorry but if I am devoting half my day to go to your wedding, you can buy the drinks

I bet he's had no problems going to other peoples' open bar weddings

The hypocrisy of some people's justifications for not doing it is pretty funny.

Wow

Thanks for the answer/example.

I have never seen or heard of that in all my life.

I'm embarrassed just watching that video.

So for all the hardasses in here...

What if you're marrying a girl whose parents don't want to pay for an open bar?

Are you going to start a conflict by forcing them to pay for it? Or embarrass them by paying for that part of it yourself?

Or option C, call off the wedding with that poor trash?

Strange. I've probably been to 30 weddings in the last 5 years and only one had a money dance. IMO it is the tackiest thing someone can do at their wedding. Might as well have someone standing out side the front door with a bucket labeled Tips for Bride and Groom or something.

I could see it being tacky, but im just saying that I've found it to be pretty common, and this includes weddings for people from all classes and walks of life

Give me the money the inlaws want to throw up for the wedding and hope it's enough for 2 round trip tickets including hotel stay in Europe.

Fvck everyone else who bitches about your poor white trash wedding.

The only weddings i've been to that have had money dances and cash bars were in Baton Rouge and surrounding areas.

I've found it to be more of a coonass than redneck thing, in my experience.

I went to a wedding like this where the bride's family was very religious and refused to pay for alcohol. The bride and groom went out and bought a couple kegs and a couple cases of cheap wine and everyone still had a good time. I know they cleared it with the bride's parents beforehand. Anyone that is getting married should be able to spend $500-$1,000 on alcohol for their guests.

My inlaws are very conservative, Southern Baptists from a small town. They didn't want to pay for a bar due to their beliefs. So, we payed for an open bar ourselves.

It was still a little bit of an issue because they didn't want it to appear as if they had payed for it.

I love Baptists. 99% will say this - and then get shitfaced every other weekend when no one is looking.
