Just run him over next time and maybe you'll get your answer.

You can get a dwi on a bike.

The interlock system is less effective however

They are supposed to follow the rules of the road just like any other vehicle.

But someone will be along shortly to explain that it's not really necessary for them to obey all the laws because it's inconvenient for cyclists and they're basically

As a cyclist, frick that rider. Running red lights, and being in the center "just because" is what's going to get ME run over by a driver that's had a bad day and remembers those experiences.

I wish some people couldn't ride bikes/drive cars.

He was wrong to run the red light. You were wrong to think you can pass him without going into the other lane, unless you could give him 3 feet. Otherwise, you pass him as you would any slow moving vehicle, by waiting for the cars to clear in the other lane, then using that lane to pass.

It's situational. But sometimes a cyclist is going to take up a good part of the lane to force you to wait until you have to go into the other lane. Sketchy to have cars try to squeeze by just because they don't think you belong. Don't want to give them the room for that if there isn't room for it to be done safely. If there is enough room or an appropriate shoulder (although I'm sure drivers and cyclist will disagree on when a shoulder should be rides on a lot), then it's a dick move by the cyclist.

Most roads I ride have enough room for a car to pass me without having to get out of the lane. Narrower roads, I get further to the middle so drivers don't get any crazy ideas (not like there's a lot of traffic where there's two cars at the same time anyway).

They must obey all the rules of the road, same as a car.

Not in Louisiana.

I go to school in another area of the country, but whenever, I come around here, it seems like some (not all, just a select few) of the bikers are just completely obnoxious. And it seems to me like some bikers around think that they are cars without actually having to deal with the rules of the road. For instance, tonight, a biker was biking, but did not give me enough room to pass until no cars were coming the other way and I had to go into the other lane to pass the jerk. Then there was a light ahead that was red, and the guy just goes through the light as if he was a pedestrian. I mean, I guess that's fine. But this means that he was ahead of me again and this time he was basically in the center of the lane I was driving in, and despite there being area on the side for him to move over to let cars pass, he refused to do so. I had to wait for traffic in the other lane (coming in the opposite direction, don't forget) to pass before I could get past the biker, all of the sudden thinking he was a vehicle, and thus entitled to go in the center of the lane at a very slow speed. So, my question is are bikes treated like motor vehicles or not? It seems like some bikers want the answer to be "both" and just utilize pedestrian and vehicle laws/norms for whatever benefits them because some think they can straddle the line and be both a motor vehicle and like a pedestrian. Because, if they are to be treated like motor vehicles, then they should have to wait for lights to go green, but if not, then get out of the lane and go to the sidewalk!
Do you mean bikers or cyclists? I think you mean cyclists.

Most bicyclists do whatever suits them best. I almost T bone them constantly in city park because they run red lights.

In short, frick them.

I ride a bike pretty often. I usually can get where I need to go or pick up something from the grocery for dinner quicker on my bike than vehicle.

I try to obey and stay closest to the right side of the road as possible and when possible take routes with designated bike lanes. The biggest concern with hugging real close to the right is I've wrecked more times from stupid arse drivers just swinging their drivers door open causing me to either swerve out into the middle of traffic or take out their door. This alone makes some bike riders say 'frick hugging the right so close'.

For full disclosure, on some occasions I'll blow a read light.

This law really needs to change. Bikers going 20-30 mph under the speed limit are a major hindrance to traffic and just as dangerous as someone going 20-30 mph over the speed limit.
