Howard Roark is not only the greatest architect I've met, he's also the greatest person I've met. He's not only a gifted and generous architect but a genuinely good human being sharing his craft with the world and asking very little in return. After he finished his design I thanked him, paid him double and asked him to be my son's godfather. He's less an architect and more a saint, God bless you Howard.

Bill Powell is who I used on my current house. He was a pleasure to work with and I would highly recommend him.

He will meet you at your place (this was huge for me as I run a busy dental practice) and doesn't get insulted if you want to change anything during the process.

Very talented and a heck of a nice guy too.

Considering the fact that Hays Town died over a decade ago I'd suggest updating your list.

Whoever you hire, tell them you have 5% less money than you actually want to spend. Then you'll have a little cushion when things inevitably go over budget.

IF you knew my sense of humor you would understand my post

Look at my list and then notice the last recommendation

the top three are well known, exclusive and expensive (and yes one is not alive)

The last is the practical suggestion for building on Diversion

Should have left the subtle humor out

This. I always suggest to clients (design / build) to include a 5-8% contingency for unforeseen expenses

1. Hays Town is dead.
2. RHH is a good group of folks but they don't really do much residential anymore and they're also "high end", if you catch my drift.
3. Andy Mc Donald isn't an architect.
4. Coleman is another high-end commercial group. I know they do some residential but you'll be raped on fees.

Also, Chenevert is not a "new comer". Norman has been around for years.

What side of the river? We have been down here 15+ years, make sure they take into the account the setting sun in the afternoons, depending on the side of the river you might need to flip the layout, extend a room to offer shade...

My buddy is a former architect for Grace Hebert. He has recently started his own firm. Check him out! He designed the new LSU Gymnastics facility
