This is very minimal, if anything it would be a pro for me

I'd be okay with up to 25% travel.

I travel to our 5 global offices once a year for about a week to 10 days each than a bunch of domestic travel in between. As long as your family is cool with the time away I love it. I got back from Saudi Arabia and Qatar last night.

As others have mentioned I've seen parts of the world I'd never seen on my own, loaded up on travel benefits that pays for my family vacations annually. And the wife sneaks off with me when she can and we extend the trip to places we'd never go.

I've been on clients where I traveled every week for 9+ months (Monday-Thursday).

My current client has all of their employees still remote and I've only traveled to their home office for the kickoff meeting.

Very client dependent but business travel is coming back.

Traveling once a month max is healthy. Prefer once ever couple of months. Anything more becomes a burden on you and your family. No price is worth it at that point.

That isn’t travel.

That’s a gift.

Are they making you travel to some terrible location every month?

But as others have said 1-2 days a month doesn’t constitute “traveling for work” IMO

Most guys I know who travel for work at a minimum go to client sites on Monday and fly home Thursday evenings every other week. Some of them have to do that every week depending on the client and project. Now to me that kind of travel would grind me down.

But 1-2 days a month would be an easy pill to swallow plus you get travel points that your company pays for win win IMO

It really gets to be grinding when you have to make connections to get home. When I was DFW based I could get anywhere direct in a couple of hours. Now being in Austin I either have to bounce around between airlines, last project in Denver (United) and current in Minneapolis (Delta), or stick to one and have to connect which doubles the travel time. That's why I'm Gold with everybody and top tier with nobody this year.

That's a good situation. Make sure you commit to an airline and I recommend Hilton Honors. American can let you down and will let you down, but I've also been given the most first-class flights in my life once I hit gold by American.

Beginning of January and This part of summer is when the planes tend to have the most issues. If Texas gets below freezing, then do not go through Dallas.

I know a guy who's a dentist, lives in Maryland, has practices there and in Cleveland, he also teaches a class at Harvard, that seems to be a bit much to me, he might be doing it to get out of the house though

I currently travel for my job. It’s a bit unique since I decide where to go, when to go and for how long. My territory is large so by nature, travel is inevitable. I usually fly out Monday morning and am back Thursday evening one or two times per month.

Being away from my wife is the toughest part but there are times where she has joined me and it makes for a nice experience for both of us. She’s joined me for an Alaska trip before.

The travel gives me a chance to see the parts of the country that I thought I’d never see like Rock Springs, Wyoming for instance. Go for it if the job seems like a good fit. Any type of travel is a broadening experience.

On a plane 2-3 weeks per month....its my job and have no issues since my kids are grown and my wife is OK with it.

1-2 days/month is NOT traveling!

You will be fine.

I've been traveling for work for almost 30 years. 1 or 2 days a month isn't very much travel.

At that pace you will have a hard time getting much (if any) status with the airlines or hotels, which to me was the primary perk of having to travel all the time.

Being able to get on a plane first so you can put your stuff in the overhead bins instead of at your feet might not sound like much, but when you are on airplanes all the time every little bit of comfort you can squeeze out of the system, counts.

That is what can be a pain in the arse. I fly out of a smaller airport now that I'm out of Vegas. Many times where I've had to change flights or even airlines to get home. Or stuck another night.

It often means you have to leave on Sunday nights as well, depending on when your meetings start on Monday.

Dude, 1-2 days a month is a mini vacation from the wife and kids. Get some sleep and a nice dinner on the boss.

I did 150 nights a year for a good stretch and THAT gets tiring, especially if it is to new places all the time and you can’t set up a routine.

Is not traveling for work. Take the $15,000 pay raise.
