Well I'd assume it's kind of illegal monitor credit card purchases without clear consent.

Websites monitor traffic that comes to said site, websites track purchases through said site, once you become a customer you are placed in an advertising category, and then subjected to receiving ads from the company that you purchased from.

This isn't rocket science...

I assumed he was talking about instore purchases not online. Like he walked into best buy to buy a speaker without any prior online record of looking at speakers.

Did anyone actually read the OP? The purchases were made completely independent of computer searches.

I seriously doubt this is happening other than coincidences you've built into something more. How would that even be possible? You think Google is accessing your bank account or spying on you through your phone?

Yeah... You think cookies only store information from searches. That's cute.

I've been developing websites from the ground up for over 15 years. Please show me website "cookies" that track conversations you have with people face to face. No websites involved.

I have never seen this.

Ever.

Unless it is something I bought online.

Then if you work with websites you must know about third party agreements.

If you are getting ads, then you used a card that is getting info from your bank or you bought at a place that had your information online.

Or your wife searched for whatever you bought.

There are truly no off-the-grid purchases.
