I went to the ortho today for a consultation and I was quoted for $5800. The process will take 20 months to fix some spacing in my top row and an overbite. The back of my teeth (molars) are in the perfect position, no problems at all. Does the price quoted and the length of time sound about normal for those who have used Invisalign, and did you get the desired results?

Braces are out of the question for occupational reasons.

The price is spot on. Exactly what you should be charged for a 20 month case (although it costs dentists the same if it's a full case no matter how long it lasts). The overbite is why it is taking longer than you might think (most likely).

Go for it. I've seen great results over the last 10 years or so.

No, they aren't bad at all. Growing up my parents didn't have the money to get my teeth perfect so I told myself when I have the means to do it I will. Now, do you have any experience with Invisalign?

I'm curious as well. I got quoted a few years ago and I remember it being around 5-6k.

I had braces as a teenager but my bite is all messed up now and I want it fixed.

Why are braces out of the question?

I do not have experience with it. My kids' orthodontist told me that they work fine with adults as long as the work is not too major. They do not work well with kids because they lack the discipline in using them.

One of my kids was $5500 for two years in braces; the other $7500 for 3.5 years. Third one has not gotten them yet.

Thank you, I wasn't sure if I should so some more shopping around or not. The ortho that I went to today made me feel confident and they seemed to really care.

I thought about them. Take a look at six month smiles. They were cheaper than invisalign and worked well.

My wife had them done. Her teeth were fairly straight to begin with. Couldn't really tell a difference when they were done. She works at a dental office so she got them for cost. She now wishes she would have done braces to get better results

My occupation won't allow me to have braces. I wish I could get them as I'm sure it'd take less than 20 months to correct my issues. My wife is a hygienist and she thought $5800 was a lot for Invisalign and braces could've been cheaper.

As an adult why would you want braces? Food constantly stuck in them, much harder to keep your teeth clean, looks, etc.

Invisalign is easy and nobody knows you are even in treatment. Just take them out to eat and brush. Not good for kids because they don't have the discipline to wear them.

As adults, you want the results and have spent the money. Although some adults still won't wear them as they should......

Stick with them. Check the Invisalign site to see if they are on there. You can check and see if they do a lot of cases, etc.

Invisalign

Just put in your zip code where it says "Find a Doctor".

Those are still braces correct? Anything that will result in my having to go into the ortho office frequently is a no go, and there is always a chance that I might have to go to a place for awhile where ortho isn't around before the time frame is up for the braces.

I had them. They worked fine for me. I didn't have any major issues before though. Just need a gap closed.

DO NOT do this. They are a terrible company. You will not get the results you want. Trust me, I know what I am talking about. It's one of the oldest and best sayings: You get what you pay for. This is especially true when it comes to dentistry.......

I really appreciate that link, the ortho I went to is only 1 of 2 preferred providers in my area. Good to know.
