If so, I have some questions.

I've heard that fireworks tents can generate profits of over $100k for the owners. I understand profit could be affected by weather or unforeseen tragedy like fire, theft, etc.

But on good years when everything goes as planned, are the potential profits that high?

I'd like to discuss this more if anyone has real experience owning and running a fireworks tent in June and early July.

I hear it's a blast.

But not if you want it to be successful.

I know of a guy around my area whose sole business is around 9 -10 firework stands and the guy makes a hefty income while only working a few months out of the year.

If earning $60k - $100k in less than a month is trashy, call me Land Phil.

Where does one purchase bulk fireworks for resale? I would imagine a permit is needed.

That's my understanding. There are about a dozen stands in my area and they are all owned by 2 people, both of which are LEOs.

I guarantee you won't be selling anything around them.

Two of my best friends have firework super stores here in Texas. They got in the business from their parents. Open for two weeks at New Years and two weeks at Fourth of July.

Fourth of July is their killer. Markup is 600-700%. Their stands aren't the cheapest, but they are the biggest. All of their stands are at high traffic areas on lakes. These guys sell $500-600k of fireworks each year and this is their side business.

Container shipped overseas. You have to move serious quantities or have a place to store it for 6 months. Not everything has an extended shelf life so you have to keep that in mind with humidity.

Correct, permit is needed and I hear very hard to get. Also, the wholesalers supposedly are VERY tight with the retailers and they're all basically partners or they kick each other back. It would be extremely tough to get product and a decent location. Maybe not impossible but I know a few people who looked into it over the years and everyone said its a dirty tight knit industry and they gave up.

Is that gross revenues? I wonder what their net income is after that. After buying in bulk and all expenses.

Also I imagine you'd need some serious ash upfront or a line of credit

One of our subcontractors owns a fireworks business. He has 4 tents he setups each year. According to him each tent will profit roughly $30k twice a year. He doesn't own any land just finds good locations and rents it from the landowner and or business owner for a month at a time.

He buys bulk fireworks from a company out of Texas. He said the cheapest place to purchase fireworks is from companies in China. But the minimum order to get them from China is $150k or $200k worth.
