Apparently only 14 people have finished the race in the almost 30 years it has been in existence

And all of them are OTers.

Followed last year live and excited to follow this year as well.

How and when do you do this?

I watched the doc on netflix and began researching the hell out of it.

I love how the founder just lays back, smokes cigarettes and fricks with everyones heads

I've been out there on several occasions to hike and ride motorcycles. Went out when they were running it too. They are turning the prison into a distillery and tourist area.

It's around the same time every year, just google it.

I believe it is around the last weekend in March and there were a couple of guys I followed on Twitter giving live updates and there was some pretty cool interaction between past and current (who have dropped out) runners. Can't remember the Twitter handles because I unfollowed them after the weekend but will likely find and refollow them just ahead of the race. It was really fun

Yeah, some of it is like vertical climbing. Running through briars as sharp as razors. Changing direction on your loops so that you don't remember the course that well. It works out that you get one loop at night and one loop at dark in the same direction. The next time you get to see it in the daylight, you are going the opposite direction, so you can't use familiar landmarks.

I think one of the toughest things is you don't know when it'll start. You can't get good sleep before your 60 hour race, because it could start at any time! That would be awful.

Funny that he picks one person who has no business attempting it each year. Just to see how quick they fail .

I really enjoyed the documentary. I like trail running, so I watched. This is not trail running, it's torture.

When I saw him light the cig to start the race and then saw the runners run through the cloud, it made me think of the OT thread from last week.

I thought it was a loop race with no finish, just laps?

Watched it, and those people are crazy!

I liked the guy they invited that was their "mark", he made it like 6 miles and caught a ride back. Those 6 miles took him like 10 hours.
