He thinks he looks like Keanu Reeves...I can see the comparison but I usually just call him a Mexican wannabe

Two of my best friends are white men that work for top law firms in the country. I'd let them be my child's god father. Other best friend is a Hondurian Jew that works for a huge tech firm in CA. Best female friends are a Japanese American doctor, dentist and a South African health policy expert. My first time was a Dominican bombshell. First love was a creole queen. Got heart broken by a Filipino smoke show. Great friends with an African American female pharmacist that is from the inner city.

I'd also 4-5 other white men to be amongst my best friends. We all don't agree on all issues but we are roughly the same. There immediate friend groups are just as diverse as mine.

Having friends of different races, socioeconomic backgrounds, religions, ethnicities, genders, and sexualities is something I've been doing literally since birth. i find it alarming that this thread is even a question. I'm around mixed friend groups and mixed couple groups everyday and weekend.

My SO is black. She was one of my best friends for a few years before we got together three years ago.

High and mighty? I'm just baffled how I easily made friends across such hard "lines" and how others can't.

Seems beta and weak AF

It's a she. And her friend group is probably more mixed and intermingling than mine.

That's the point I'm trying to make.

You expect white guys to be best buds with gang bangers and vice versa.

It's not racism idiot, it's common interests and values.

The real America where normal white or black people don't befriend white or black trashy people and vice versa.

Remember your comment about "people you work with don't count as friends"?

I've worked with some trashy white and black people.

"I don't know what America y'all live in", while I am open to other interpretations, to my mind seems like you think those that don't have your shared social group are not living in your version of America. This, to me, indicates a sense of superiority, or, at least, a sense of disdain for those who do not share it.

lol I have friends that go from top lawyers in America, pharmacists to bartenders, shipping/delivering guys, and football scouts.

Somehow we find common interests. How come others can't? And we have completely different careers and socioeconomics.

So, you're not friends with any trashy-arse white dudes?

Sounds racist.

Am I supposed to be friends with any black gang-bangers I know?

I am, honestly. Their FB posts are cringey as frick and barely legible, but I still go out to drink with them and talk about old football days. For some reason, they appreciate me for acting like a total boogie cracker rather than trying to talk their lingo. We just bond over booze, weed, and Biggie.

If and when I get my JD (barring some military feelers I'm putting out), I'll be damn sure to defend them pro bono. Good fellas, for the most part.

My ball and chain is West Indian.

She's pretty Americanized so we have a lot in common. Except she loves Bama and the Noles.

My absolute best friend from age 12 to 38 was Victor. He was born in Madras, India. He died from cardiac arrest 9 years ago. Our interest was wit and humor first and that is what drew me to him to begin with in the 7th grade. Of course, we had much more in common as we grew older and influenced each other's likes. I made him a UGA fan in 8th grade and he made me a a fan of international soccer. I made him a Led Zeppelin fan and he made me a Metallica fan when they first emerged. He moved here with his parents from India when he was 5 and was as red blooded American as anyone I have known. He was closer to me than any person I have ever known except my wife and kids. Closer than my own brothers. When he died, he took a chunk of me with him that has only been filled and replenished by my wife and kids. He was one of the best and the most genuine and kind hearted person I have ever known. Unique in every way. I miss my brother......my friend.

My best friend is Jamaican. I'm The Godfather to his son. We were co workers years ago and hit it immediately due to his work ethic and personality. Now he has a MBA and is a director of operations for a large hotel on the Gulf Coast.

You can only have one best friend, but I have some close friends that are white. I mean it is damn near impossible to grow up in south east Louisiana and not have any white/cajun friends.

quote:

Socioeconomic, interests, hobbies?

My white friends who are originally from Louisiana are only into cars, fishing, hunting, guns, and any other outdoors activity.

My white friends who are transplants are not into the above things. I tried inviting one of my friends who is originally from the Jersey/Philly area to go fishing with some of my baw friends and it was a disaster.

Jersey boy was complaining to the whole time; its hot, the fish fricking stink, where are the boats with the hot chicks?, there is no signal out here?!" Baw #1 bout had his full of Jersey boy and told him man why the frick did you come if you were going to cry like a bitch the whole time.

Jersey boy may seem like a bitch but he really isn't. He is into cross-fit, hiking, running, and claimed to love the outdoors.

At the end of the day neither the baws or Jersey understood why I hung with the others.

Me and the baws grew up doing the same thing as kids thats what we had in common hunting fishing

Me and Jersey were in the same profession. Thought alike, went down similar paths. So thats what we had in common.

This whole thing wasn't about race more about life styles and upbring

ETA Jersey boy is a Tulane grad so he can sometimes come off kinda elite-y. Fist thing he said when he go on my friends boat was oh its this type of boat. (Baw has really nice bay boat) He for some reason thought we would be fishing off a fricking yacht
