I did the Boy Scouts camps/trips, but never got to do Space Camp. Always wanted to.

Anyone have any experience? Looking back, was it worth it? Did you get to do anything really cool, or was it mostly just boy scouts without tents or campfires?

Has any actual astronaut been to space camp when he/she was younger?

I never went but my kids have been over the last three years. They have three tracks to choose from: Space, Robotics, and Aeronautics. My kids have done Space and Robotics in different years. Lots of cool stuff: simulators, meeting astronauts, building robots and using them in competition. It's really fostered their interest in space and science.

I did when I was 12. It was really cool. We got to do a simulated mission & live in this futuristic looking dorm building.

Yeah, I was a dork. Still am.

If you are interested in space and science, it's an absolute blast.

(Pun intended)

I went when I was 12. I had a good time. I do remember waking up at the shite crack of dawn every morning.

The simulated mission was fun. I ended up being commander and had the most messed up re-entry someone could survive

I have learned the things that made me a dork growig up have helped me more in life than the thongs that would have made me cool.

I went to Space Camp and it was awesome. I've been wanting to go back and do it as an adult, but it's definitely harder to plan that now.

Absolutely. Added bonus: I didn't peak in high school like most of the "cool" kids.
