I was scheduled to go to one this weekend in Houston but put my foot down. The bride is a childhood friend of my wife's and they've been dating for over 10 years, but the guy is clearly gay.
Quick timeline:
-Been dating since college (2002ish at Baylor)
-Around 2007 (they were probably 25/26) the bride told a group of girlfriends that they've taken sex off the table since neither of them are "that into it"...and she was fine with that because the social expectation of sex brought unneeded pressures to their relationship
-From all accounts their social life consists of third wheel, a man named Corgi (yes like the dog), who accompanies them everywhere, including multiple vacations. He is the grooms' "best friend" since about 2005 after meeting at a "sports bar" in Houston.
I have zero interest in spending the time and money to go to this event and miss the LSU/Ole Miss game. Frankly, I can't fake an entire day endorsing this charade. I don't care about the gay issue, but more the fact that hundreds of people are in complete denial and putting on an act. Wife is planning to go as of today.
Anyone else ever been witness to something similar?

Is the third wheel implied to be the groom's boy toy?

The possibly gay groom isn't the only one who is going to have sex taken off the table.

I went to a wedding of a friend that none of us talked to since he had started dating the girl. We confronted him about how he blew us off a few times, but it didn't matter. We all got shite faced at his open bar wedding though. I have talked to him one time since. It was when he told me they were expecting. He has no friends, so he felt the need to tell me. Funny thing is he was a super popular guy.

Your response made me think of this clip from Key and Peele:

My sister and how now ex-husband.
I remember this was the first time my dad sat me down and told me the worlds on crack.

I went to one of the most joyless wedding ever last year. No one was happy. The parents each hated the groom/bride. It was just so awkward.
They now live in Houston but the wife spends every weekend going out of town to hang out with "friends". I'm surprised it has even lasted a year.

Did we go to the same wedding? That sounds incredibly familiar...

I've been to a couple weddings where one of the parents was badmouthing the marriage too
I can't even imagine. If the couple is actually happy, which it sounds like the ones you are referencing weren't, the parents look like trashballs going around badmouthing it.
