Yes, here in my area they come around. Almost every time it is a small white pickup with the freezer mounted in the back. They pull up quick and get with it. Quick yelled question, "Want to buy some steaks at $$$/pound?" I declined, was asked again so they made sure I heard the deal and declined. I showed them a pistol and they backed out, waved, and went to the neighbor's place. She actually bought some to cook later in the day.
I went over to inspect the meat. The ribeyes were compressed frozen pieces pressed together and, when thawed out, separated and shrunk. After grilling the meat did shrink to 60% of initial size and parts were chewy. Considering half price and average texture and taste overall, it was not a real deal. Seemed more like chuck steak....

Ickey Woods used to do it in Cincinnati. Would do the Ickey shuffle if you bought meat.

If "pretty good" is any higher than a 2 on your 1 to 10 scale, you haven't had even decent steaks.
I bought a couple of steaks at Walmart once, just to give them a try. Walmart steaks are far better.

Schwan's? They used to come by my old job and make sales. I think the owner knew someone at the company and didn't mind them coming by. They would even take orders ahead of time so you knew what the delivery was going to be. I bought from them once or twice. Wasn't great, but it wasn't bad.

I worked for Schwans in college... don't ever confuse Schwans for some dude in a Ranger with an ice chest in the bed.
