And Rabies Vaccine Series of shots? Anyways, my entire family of 4 was ordered to have them due to 1 dead bat in our house, plus trapping 2 live ones.

Yes, I have a small colony of bats who made a home in one of my dormers, they'll soon be looking for a new home.

I'm curious about the cost, we currently have BCBS Louisiana for insurance.

Damn. As a precaution for a dead bat that didn't come into contact with any of you? That sucks.

The dead one was found in my daughters room along with 1 live one. My other daughter is constantly in her room.
The other 2 I trapped outside her room and released .
If my dumbass pest control company (jaroy) knew anything about bats I would've kept one and sent off for testing but they're morons.

You do know you have the option to not be compliant.

Was anybody bitten? Just seems a little excessive to me.

Try telling that to a paranoid wife, after consulting with our kids pediatrician and primary care physician who then spoke to the CDC they ordered them.

I'm just curious what cost I'm looking at through insurance and if anyone has gone through this.

It's about as thick as molasses...so prepare yourself for that big needle.

Just dont get the shot if you werent bitten. Or do they think there's a chance it bit you and you didnt know? Thats a toughy.

I had to get rabies vaccine in the 80's when a dog bit me and they couldnt find the dog.

Totally agree, I feel this is absurd process to go through, maybe my daughters needed the shots but not us.

Do you know the cost of having rabies? You should run not walk to get the shots.

I'd definitely have to chew up a couple of Alka-Seltzers and lay on the floor for her to walk in and find me seizing.

ETA: Then of course jump up and chase her around the house.

Rabies ain't shite to play around with.

I suppose the logic was no matter how unlikely infection was, the shot was better than death. Seems hamfisted/a lie from the doctor/something missing from the story to have the CDC involved tho based on the events invite OP.

Did they test the bats for rabies?

Sorry, just read where you clarified this.

Can't you domesticate bats? Like some people have them as badass pets I think.

Death...but the odds of being bitten by a rabid bat are worse then winning the lottery.

Daughter didn't touch the bats, but a dead one was found in her room which might mean it hung around there for up to 3 days before death.

That horrible convulsive hydrophobic death thing is worse than winning the lottery, too.

Why don't you give your daughters up for adoption? Maybe they'll get parents that love them and get the children the medical attention they need instead of the internet attention the parents need.

The shots weren't bad at all, I've had steroid shots that hurt worse.
I'm not talking about roid shots..

You're a fricking idiot. Would've been better if your parents would have aborted you.

My daughters were a no brainer.

I'm just curious if anyone has been through this shite, cost are irrelevant but I'd like to know what I'm looking at.
