I'm always about to die. I'll get shot and will be bleeding out alone when I wake up.

I started having some sleep paralysis episodes about a year ago. Had never heard of it or knew it was a thing. I would wake up feeling that I was being robbed, house on fire, etc. and I literally could not move. Scary feeling.

Haven't had one lately, but now I probably will tonight.

Had this happen to me in college one time. Scared the shite out of me. Thought I was possessed and the devil was about to do work on me.

I've experienced both. One usually becomes the other. But not all the time. Usually I am always having a dream. I realize I'm dreaming and instead of manipulating the dream I try to wake up and can't. But even then I am perceiving my room and my house, but I wake up and it is wrong. Meaning, for example, I believe I am in my room and see it perfectly, but it was morning, and when I wake up it's still 5am and dark. Or I've had one in a hotel. The dream/paralysis was at home. When I wake up I'm in a hotel. Or if I am home, the sheets were wrong, or in the dream it's just my wife in the bed and I see her. But I wake up facing the other way and our son is in between us.

Amazing how fricked up it can be. Also amazing how many people post YouTube videos about it. Some of them I guess are meant to be played with headphones while you sleep as they are 8 hours long.

Whoa. Is it time for the yearly sleep paralysis thread?

I feel like this topic pops up way more often than once a year.

do you think having a dog that sleeps near you (not necessarily on bed) may help? my dog helped me awaken from nightmare the other night -- was a relief.
