'Old Hag' on Wiki
Anyone else ever battle it before? You can eventually start to realize it's happening much quicker. You never win the actual battle though
I did just now, fell asleep shortly before I woke up to not being able to move anything but my head to look around. Holy shite, Gotttt Emmmmm.... It's been a while since I've dealt with it and it caught me off guard and I didn't realize what was going on for a hot minute.
Eta:
So let's me try and paint the picture..... I'm laying in bed and looking down over the foot of the bed I can see straight through the bathroom into the living area where the only light emanating in there is the shades over the windows pulled up. I live alone and there is only one door in and out locked from the inside. So I'm the only one alone...
So I juuuussssst fall asleep when all the sudden I'm woken and it feels like someone is holding me down. I stray to strain to pick my arms up and can move them just centimeters maybe.
About this time I pick my head up and look down the end of my bed and I see a figure (shadow) walk across then other side of the living room crossing in front of the bathroom door from one side to he other... talk about hair standing up on the back of my neck?!! WUT!!?!?...
shite freaked me the fricks out.... granted I'm on the 16th floor so no one is climbing through my windows that don't open anyway....
ETA Again:
Pic for reference of me exact view from bed. 'Old Hag' crossed in the shadow of that window on the other side of the bathroom door from right to left....
Not sure if you can see what I'm talking about... best I can do Baws. It's what I'm seeing

No, but exploding head syndrome damn near gave me a heart attack one time. Thought I was losing my mind.

I just have night terrors sometimes when I'm really stressed and haven't been sleeping enough.

I suffer from sleep paralysis about three or four times a year. It's gotten significantly better than when I was a child.
It is freaky as shite and usually leaves me with a strong sense of dread for the rest of the evening. I'd say that I'm afraid to go back to sleep. That dread isn't logical - I'm not dreading the possibility of it reoccurring (which would make sense) I'm just dreading something.
From what I've read the condition is believed to be the origins of alien abductions. People often report the feeling that someone is in the room with them, controlling them, and they are totally helpless. Combine that with the paralysis and you get aliens (apparently). I've never felt that.
It does feel like my body is made out of iron and the bed/couch/floor is a giant magnet. One time my girlfriend walked in on me while I was struggling to get off of the couch. I was knees on the floor and chest/head on the seat with my arms limp toward the floor. She thought I was having a stroke. I think it freaked her out more than me.

Yeah the alien shite is stupid, hell the 'it's aliens' crowd is retarded in every situation, not just this instance.
The iron and magnet description is pretty good.... because If you can move at all it feels like every body part is like a 100lbs.....

No old hag, but I'm often running in quicksand to a class I forgot I was registered for.

I've been so deathly ill before (like literilally shitting yourself because your body has no ability to clench level I'll) that I've had hallucinations.
I also wake up frantic searching for something and I'm not quite sure why. I have a few ideas but they're just guesses.

That is one of my worst fricken nightmares, but it is like I have already missed a week of classes. The extremely fricked up part of these dreams is that I graduated in 19 frickin 85!

Whoa. Is it time for the yearly sleep paralysis thread? I love this and I'm glad to be on the first page.
Yes I've had it in numerous occasions. Never seen the old hag but it's quite scary when you can't move and feel totally awake. I always feel like I can't breathe which is the worst part.

I get sleep paralysis quite often. I've taught my wife little signs to shake me out of it.
