We don’t have flood insurance and I’ve always viewed it as a waste of money if you’re not in a flood zone but I’m wondering if the extra $700 isn’t worth it for peace of mind?

It’s worth two pieces of mind valued at $350 a piece.

Didn't have it in 2016, flood zone X.

Will never not have it again. $400 is worth it.

There is zero reason not to have it if it is cheap and you are along the gulf coast or anywhere else that has a chance of significant rainfall

I’ve got it. Moved in after 2016 floods. Knew what we were up against. Water rose higher last night around here. We were dry.

Still going to keep it even though if I need it the whole city is under.

Get the flood insurance. Flood zone maps don't mean anything today.

Was not required in 2016 yet I still had it. Made it worth it for ALL of the years I paid for it when I did not need it.

Get it. I didn't have it in 2016 for the same reasons you don't have it now. That all changed when the water started coming in.

I paid about $250/year at my last house (zone x) out of superstition after seeing my parents home in BR flood in 2016.

I will probably get at least some coverage for my new home (also zone x) after seeing their house flood again last night.

I figure it's the cost of a few nice meals out so why not

You are out of your mind if you don't have flood insurance even not in a "flood zone"

$800/year to cover 2 houses in Flood zone X, both within 100' of large drainage canals... I'll keep paying it.

bag of leaves stopping up your neighborhood subsurface drain pipe can flood an entire block. Just saying....its worth the price.

I didn't come close in 2016 or last night as I'm extremely high up. I'm very lucky where I am and how high I am with great drainage, but I'm not out of my mind.

Didn’t have it in 2016 and it was one of the worse feelings in the world watching water come into my house wondering how in the hell id ever recover. Every house I live in until I’m dead will have flood coverage now. I think it’s like $485 a year... well worth the peace of mind

Always had it when I moved back from California.

When I lived in California, I had Earthquake insurance and glad I had that.

You never think about these policies until you need it.
