If it didn't mean everything would pile up in the interim, hell yeah.

I feel stressed and emotionally worn out basically every day now since the flood. I have no idea how to make everything ok for my family. I know it will all work out somehow though. At least that is what I cling to right now. Work is also very stressful right now as well and no one here in AZ seems to really grasp just how bad the flooding was. I mean some do, but others do not. I wish I could have others in AZ that I could commiserate with through all this who understands and can relate.

I'm on fb a lot cause I'm keeping in touch with family, etc throughout all of this on there. But that in itself can make me feel worse. I'll feel horrible seeing all the posts of people I know who have lost everything. I feel almost angry and irritated when I see others not in LA just posting their normal day to day stuff. Any flood related posts I see (whether it's articles on it, whatever)....are only by people either in LA or from there.

We should all be in a "funk". This catastrophe JUST hit and crushed the dreams and the quality of life for so many thousands of our friends and neighbors.

We should all be in a funk.

Was already in a funk pre flood, now in a major funk. Went on vacation August 6, and it rained the entire week at the beach (right side of the system that hammered Baton Rouge).. Then we came home to the flood. Trying to be positive but I'm worn out mentally and physically. Tornado+flood=2016 can go screw itself.

ETA: I try to be happy that our rental didn't flood but I'm still down about the 100k property/keepsakes we lost in our storage. And our new house flooding, although that's not as major. Just bummed.

Holy Cow, picc, I had no idea that you are also a flood victim. I do recall your post about your home being hit by a tornado while you were inside the home!

I sure feel sorry for ya'll. I say ya'll because I know that you are married and have small children.

Definitely not my normal self. Not sleeping well at night. My baby isnt sleeping well either. I lay down and just try to think of how I can help people that I know, in addition to my normal work/home duties.

Make a gratitude list with nothing being too small.
Works every time.

Yeah, champs, I could deal with a tornado but I would rather not be home while it happens. Still goes down as the scariest thing I've ever been through! My three y/o (was 2 then) is still asking me about the "nado" and talks about it like its family member who comes over every now and then. When he saw the storage unit he asked if "nado chased the storage unit"? Anyway, Mother Nature has given me more than I can handle this year.

Yes, woe is me and all that. I recognize in the grand scheme, we are tremendously blessed. I get it. But it doesn't make me feel less bummed right now.

.....And we had to cancel the LSU-Wisconsin trip because there was no justifying spending an extra $3k after this while trying to replace everything before moving into new house.

I am but only because I'm having to bring a pup found at our home to a rescue family. We can't keep it and I didn't know what to do ... I'm surprisingly sad about this.

You were in the LSU marching band. They should take you and your family on the team airplane as a complimentary gesture.

I was fascinated by tornadoes, hurricanes and dinosaurs as a small boy. Looks like your son is headed in that direction!

Take care and keep us posted from time to time when you can.

Sorry to hear this man. I have been there before and it wasn't fun, but although its easier said than done, sometimes you have to force yourself to do it and that helps. If your brain can produce more Serotonin, it will help you feel better. If you google "how to produce more serotonin" you will find some helpful information, but do you take vitamins? I had a low vitamin D count, but at some point during the day spend some time in the sun (I know that's hard when its hotter than the hinges of hell outside).

If only! There are far more deserving of any help LSU might be able to give. I watched a girl sob in the office of Jefferson Place apartments yesterday.. She and her husband flooded and are desperate to find anything in town so she can let her one year old come back home from staying with their family in Alabama. Those are the people who deserve the help.

I was in a funk for the first 6 months of this year. Worried myself sick over some financial risks I took that were suppose to pay off late 2015 early 2016 that got held up. Things started turning around a little towards middle of last month. Now things are golden. I was in a bad place...

As a buddy of mine said the other day, "I am tired of experiencing these 1000 year events in my lifetime." We started making the list.....

2016 Flood
Recent oil crisis
Cop killings
Recent Louisiana Budget Crisis (TOPS reductions)
The Great Recession (starting in 2007/2008)
Hurricanes Andrew/Katrina/Gustav
We are both older and I have lost both parents in 5 years (he lost his Dad)
Obama and likely Hillary
We got tired of adding to the list.

No wonder I started drinking a few craft beers each night.
